The dangerous heat wave shattering March records all over the U.S. Southwest is more than just another extreme weather blip. It's the latest next-level weather wildness that is occurring ever more frequently as Earth's warming builds. to.pbs.org/4rPvSaD

There is some kind of weird, wet substance falling from the sky in #Boulder. Residents baffled, but also for some reason feeling the undeniable urge to turn to strangers and say: WE NEED THE MOISTURE

🏂 Good news: Winter athletes are becoming powerful climate advocates because they’re seeing the changes firsthand. From Olympians to fans, groups like Protect Our Winters are pushing sports organizations and policymakers to cut emissions and protect the winters their sports depend on. ⛷️ Not-so-good news: Climate change is rapidly whittling down locations where Winter Olympics can reliably be held. By mid-century, only a handful of locations may be cold enough—and most would rely on artificial snow. 🧊 Inspiration: Glaciologist Dr. Heïdi Sevestre just kite-skied 4,000 km across Antarctica to collect critical ice data. Her example shows how science, courage, and communication can come together—even at the coldest edge of the planet. What happens to winter sports in a warming world, and how can those of us who love snow and ice use our voices to catalyze change? Excited to work on this bill. Let’s allow everyone to capture the energy from the sun to help power their residences ☀️
Permit Power@PermitPower_

Big signal from CO: the plug-in solar bill is in the first 10 bills of the session. Cutting red tape so renters & apartment dwellers can access cost-saving solar = real affordability wins. Huge thanks to bill sponsors Rep @LesleyForCU, Rep Rebekah Stewart, and Sen Cathy Kipp! More in the link below ⬇️

So very sad. Fortunately we can prevent measles today with a simple vaccine
Crazy Vibes@CrazyVibes_1

Roald Dahl on Measles: Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old. As the illness took its usual course I can remember reading to her often in bed and not feeling particularly alarmed about it. Then one morning, when she was well on the road to recovery, I was sitting on her bed showing her how to fashion little animals out of coloured pipe-cleaners, and when it came to her turn to make one herself, I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn’t do anything. 'Are you feeling all right?' I asked her. 'I feel all sleepy,' she said. In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead. The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was...in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her. On the other hand, there is today something that parents can do to make sure that this sort of tragedy does not happen to a child of theirs. They can insist that their child is immunised against measles. ...I dedicated two of my books to Olivia, the first was ‘James and the Giant Peach’. That was when she was still alive. The second was ‘The BFG’, dedicated to her memory after she had died from measles. You will see her name at the beginning of each of these books. And I know how happy she would be if only she could know that her death had helped to save a good deal of illness and death among other children. Roald Dahl, 1986

The Fed’s disaster recovery efforts have been so badly managed. One more example with an extra twist of vindictiveness. Disgusting. I’d like our state’s tax dollars (we’re a donor state) to return to our state to help these communities
Rep. Joe Neguse@RepJoeNeguse

An offensive and deeply destructive action by the White House. When the people of Western Colorado need assistance the most — as recovery from the Elk & Lee fires continues — President Trump abandons them in a blatant act of retaliation against our state. Shameful.
