I think a lot of anti capitalist propaganda intentionally tries to blur the line between capitalism and cronyism because properly defining the terms weakens most anti capitalist arguments immediately. If government favoritism, subsidies, bailouts, monopolistic protection, lobbying for privilege, and regulatory capture are forms of political control rather than free markets, then many of the things blamed on “capitalism” are actually examples of the state interfering with voluntary exchange. And the uncomfortable implication is that many anti capitalists aren’t opposing cronyism itself. They just want different cronies and different political favoritism benefiting their preferred groups instead. The fight often isn’t against privilege. It’s over who gets to wield it.

What if the west isn't the villain they told you it was? We’ve spent years accepting accusations about racism, intolerance, and slavery without challenging the bigger historical reality: The societies most condemned today are also the ones that led the world in ending slavery, expanding rights, and building the most tolerant nations on earth. That’s the conversation nobody wants to have.

It’s actually the government telling you to get by with less, not “the rich.” Inflation, regulation, taxes, currency devaluation, housing restrictions, and endless intervention are what make your life more expensive while reducing your options and freedom. And the logic here collapses on itself. If billionaires truly wanted you to consume less, they wouldn’t spend billions trying to sell you products, services, subscriptions, cars, phones, vacations, and entertainment. Profit comes from voluntary trade. The wealthy generally get richer when millions of people buy more from them, not less. So which is it? Are they greedy profit seekers who want your money, or ascetic anti-consumption activists who want you owning nothing and buying nothing? You can’t coherently claim both at the same time.
