There was a time when Kolkata and I didn’t really get along. Its chaos, its noise, its endless rush. I wanted distance from it all. But somewhere between leaving and longing, something changed. Without even realizing it… Kolkata slowly became home.

The best memory of 2020 was how animals returned to the streets while humans were in quarantine.

And somehow, that stayed. Because some cities don’t just become places you lived in… they become a part of who you are. My Calcutta… I think you found your way into me long before I even noticed. 🏡🤍 ||🚕🌉☕🌧️✨||

That’s when someone softly told me… “Tumi Kolkata ke chere jete paro… kintu Kolkata tomake chere kothao jabe na.” (You may leave Kolkata… but Kolkata will never leave you.)

The mountains felt quieter sitting next to him. I tried talking. He wasn’t rude, just… uninterested. Like I had interrupted something that didn’t need words. So I stopped. We just sat there for a while, him completely at ease… and me slowly learning how to be. 🏔️🐾

A reminder from Carl Jung:

Apparently, this is one of the earliest known photographs of the sacred Kedarnath Dham, taken in 1882. Couldn’t take my eyes off it. No roads. No railheads. No helicopters. Just the abode of Lord Shiva, cradled by the Himalayas Back then, the yatra demanded time, endurance, & faith. The journey wasn’t incidental; it WAS the pilgrimage. Today, access is easier. And that’s a good thing because it opens the experience to many more. But perhaps something still needs preserving? The ability to slow down & savour the experience of traveling.
