Fiona Matodzi (9) was reported missing on 11 August 2022 after she disappeared in Itsani Village within the Thohoyandou policing area. According to information at police disposal, Fiona was walking home from school when she was allegedly abducted. She was last seen by fellow learners who were walking behind her. The learners informed police that they saw Fiona getting into a black Volkswagen Polo motor vehicle, which did not have registration number plates. The occupants of the vehicle could not be identified. At the time of her disappearance, Fiona was wearing her school uniform. She never arrived home and has not been seen since. The family continues to appeal for assistance, as they remain desperate for answers regarding her whereabouts. SUSPECT FATALLY WOUNDED, THREE ARRESTED IN LESLIE HIJACKING ATTEMPT A suspected hijacker was shot dead and three others arrested following an attempted hijacking on the R29 between Leslie and Kinross on Friday morning. Police say suspects in a Mercedes-Benz allegedly stopped a Ford Ranger using flashing lights. The bakkie driver noticed firearms and opened fire, wounding one suspect. All fled on foot, but one was later found dead while three were arrested at a local liquor outlet. The Ford Ranger driver sustained a gunshot wound to his hand.
