🔥 Surgical History Sunday On March 1, 1963, the first liver transplant patient, 3 year old Bennie Solis, bled to death on the OR table from refractory coagulopathy. Starzl and team placed ‘literally thousands of sutures and ties’ to try to control bleeding, but this failed.
