Haas was president & chairman of Levi Strauss 1928-70. Before joining the company, he served as an artillery officer WW I. He and his wife founded the Walter & Elise Haas Fund, which has donated generously to Cal and many other charities, a tradition carried on by their children.

Walter A. Haas, Sr., Class of 1910, was born May 11, 1889. In 1919 he went to work for a then-struggling dry goods company founded by his wife's family, Levi Strauss & Co. He changed its focus to the manufacture of certain copper-riveted denim pants, and the rest is history.

Union Omaha and SheSports are collaborating to host a Women in Sports Night this Saturday, May 9.

Before Union’s match against Portland, @avariehoward will be hosting a panel with a handful of SheSports athletes.

Join us Saturday evening at D.J. Sokol Arena before @Union_Omaha faces off against Portland! I will be joined by several incredible female athletes for a panel discussion starting at 5:15! After the panel, there will also be a meet and greet with even more local female athletes on the concourse of Morrison Stadium. I can't wait 🩷

This project will create year-round energy, jobs, tourism, investment, and a permanent home for one of the most successful clubs in American soccer. Thank you to Governor Jim Pillen, the Sports Arena Facility Financing Assistance Act Board, the City of Omaha, the Greater Omaha Chamber, and the Omaha Convention & Visitors Bureau for believing in the vision. @RepDonBacon @TeamPillen Property taxes are a top priority for some but not all. That said, I completely agree about funding too many political subdivisions. There are over 165 electric utilities in the state. That’s one for every 12,000 people. That is insane.

I agree with @TeamPillen that property taxes are the top priority to fix. We have the sixth-highest property taxes in the country. The core issue is that we have more counties & school districts per capita than most states. Our administrative costs are huge. omaha.com/news/state-reg…
