Today it is official, I was tenured and promoted to associate professor in the @montanastatecoe together with Cecily Ryan. Big, big thank you to all supporters, colleagues, and friends of my career trajectory and the @TheKunzeLab (@montanastate, @UCLA, @EPFL_en, @tudresden_en).

Backed by a three-year $700,000 grant from the @NSF, MSU researchers are turning their expertise to an age-old medical problem: the weakening of bone that can lead to painful and disabling fractures among seniors and those with certain bone diseases. montana.edu/news/21719

This week we are pleased to begin working with Prof. Rong Long @RongLong8 (CU) on our collaborative NSF grant, "Mechanics of Structural Toughening in Sutured Composites."

We used AFM to map cortical bone modulus for labeled and non-labeled osteocyte lacunae, 5 mo and 22 mo mice. Perilacunar modulus shows a peak modulus within several hundred nm of lacunar wall. This peak was lower for labeled lacunae at both ages. Proud of @science_rux and team.
