If this is what you look like at the beach, you have some work to do... "Skinny fat" is a plague. Millions of people suffer from it world wide due to sedentary desk jobs and a lack of exercise. Bookmark this thread, and come back to it often; I'm going to show you exactly how to beat "skinny fatness" and start building a body you're proud of. 1. Stop with the fasting already (you are NOT "hacking your testosterone") Yes you want to lean out if you're skinny fat. But fasting is the wrong way to do it. You need to build muscle asap. Food is anabolic, fasting is not. Eat 3-4 times per day. Make sure you get 50g of protein every meal. Make sure it's animal protein. Chicken, pork, beef, fish, shellfish, lamb. 2. Stop with the low volume training You will need to lift weights. But powerlifting set ups won't work as well on you. So many skinny fat guys get on a powerlifting program out of the gate... If that's you, I have bad news for you: 5 sets of 5 isn't going to get you where you want to be. Lift 4-5 days per week. And get LOTS of volume. We're talking 20 rep sets. Chase that pump. Start with a push/pull/legs split (keep reading, I'll help you out at the end) 3. Stop with the crazy caloric deficit You'll never get rid of the "skinny" part of being skinny fat if you're starving yourself. Not gonna happen. Figure out your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). This is the total calories your body burns when you're just laying around doing nothing. Eat that many calories every day. For most skinny-fat guys this is in the 1900-2400 range. Bodyweight in pounds x 10-12 is a great start - There are tons of free calculators online to find a more exact answer if you wish. 4. Stop with the long, steady state cardio Hour long jogs are going to make it tough to gain mass, it's best to avoid them. If you must do cardio during this transition period, make it high intensity or very low intensity. A few hill sprints of 40 yards each, a few times per week. Jump rope for speed for 2 minutes a couple times per week. Or go on a walk. Walking won't effect your gains at all, or impact your recovery. You get the idea. This is all you need to get rid of the skinny-fat physique forever. The good news is you aren't crazy overweight. You're starting farther ahead than guys who need to lose 40+ lbs. All you need to do is be consistent with the above for 3-4 months and you'll look drastically different. If you need help ridding yourself of the "skinny fat" physique, see the next post 👇
