We found several points of EF4 damage southeast and southwest of Enid from the tornado last night. Damage surveys still ongoing, but we have found EF4 damage. #okwx

Low pressure will move across the region Tuesday and Wednesday. A warm front lifts across central Illinois Tuesday with temps warming well into the 70s. Storms will develop along the warm front, and some could be severe.

#SRRadarLoop of the Pekin IL EF2 and the Washington IL EF4 on November 17th 2013. The high end EF4 tracked for 46 miles and had winds of 190 mph. Cycloidal analysis showed winds may of exceeded 200 mph!

Like it or not (I like it), we got an early taste of winter. Champaign-Urbana had 2.3" of accumulation overnight. It's pretty rare to get this much snow this early. In fact, this is the earliest 2" or more snowfall in C-U since 1989. #ilwx

It appears the Enderlin, ND, tornado on June 20, 2025, has been upgraded to an EF-5, the first in the US since the Moore, OK, tornado of May 20, 2013. The reasons for the upgrade include the train derailment south of Enderlin and trees that were debarked with a "sandpapering effect."

We held the 2nd ever Graduate Student vs Faculty volleyball game on Friday, September 5th. The faculty took home the win this year, but graduate students are already looking forward to taking it back next year!
