@DrFeLangridge ❤️ Glad she is finally at rest - hope you feel some peace from knowing the support and love she was surrounded with. Look forward to seeing you back at uni and maybe a coffee catch up rather than over the desk divide. X

My precious sister peacefully left us this morning. She bravely battled for years but it was hard to recover after her husband died 5 years ago. No more pain or suffering. We grieve our loss but rejoice her gain. One day I will tell her story. For now we both mourn and celebrate.

@DrFeLangridge I have the utmost respect for hospice. My mother and all our family had the most unbelievable care and compassion for the 16 days we were all there together.

My sister is in this hospice right now. An unbelievable place of comfort, peace and dignity. Our family felt a palpable sense of ‘Mercy’ as we entered. Catchment covers us all the way in Ōtāhuhu. Please support.

For 23 days, my family lived at Mercy Hospice while they cared for Dad. We slept, ate, showered there. To try repay some of their kindness, my sister chose to do a half-marathon (with just 11 days’ notice!) to raise funds. Feel free to support if able 🤍 aucklandmarathon2023.grassrootz.com/mercy-hospice/…

The view from Mercy Hospice, Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa in the middle of a tough night at hospice with my sister. It’s hard being in the in between but fortunate to be surrounded by an army of support both from the staff here, and our incredible family, friends and community.

I'm thinking of everyone in gridlock, trying to leave Auckland Central right now. Traffic looks hideous. Stay safe out there.

The final paper of six published from my PhD. I’m a Pacific raised Palangi involved in child health research in the Pacific region. This paper describes lessons learnt from field work in the region and what that means in the work I continue to do. 🧵1/8 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jp…

Dr George ‘Aho gave an inspiring talk. His legacy issue is child protection, and medical neglect/late presentation causing child death in particular. “Kids first is vital. We have significant challenges but many opportunities to make a difference”.

@CerebralNurse @K_KalantarZadeh We had one too! I taught myself to touch type from a book during my 5th form holidays (very sad in hindsight 🤣)! Did get a nasty electrical burn aged 8 years, from Poppa’s typewriter which had a live wire underneath. Still have the scar but could have been way worse!

@K_KalantarZadeh We had one of these in my childhood home, kept in a blue zip-up case. I learnt to touch type on it...which turns out to have been a very useful life skill. Word processing has evolved, but keyboards haven't changed (much).

I was asked to give the wellbeing talk for the new doctors starting @western_health I decided not to talk about how we need to drink kale smoothies, do yoga classes before work, and get 8 hours of sleep a night... 1/x
