To kickoff Lung Cancer Awareness Month,I spent yesterday on the National Mall to help install 60,000 flags- each representing 2 US deaths this year from Lung Cancer.The American flags represent 5,000 veterans who will die this year from LC. More research funds are needed. #LCSM

Today marks the two year “anniversary” of Elizabeth’s passing after an almost seven year journey (she hated that term and “battle” as well) with Alk+NSCLC. I miss her EVERY day but today stings more. Yet it also motives me to spread the word about libbyslungs.org so that hopefully - in the not so distant future - husbands won’t have to deliver the eulogy of their best friend and love of their life.

Putting together care package for lung cancer patients who are staying Family House. Through your support, Libby’s Lungs provides free accommodations at Family House for patients and caregivers who have financial need. We know the the challenges a lung cancer diagnosis brings, we believe accommodations to receive treatment should not add an additional financial burden. We will include a note that states: “You are embraced by the warmth and encouragement of Libby’s Lungs, a community of lung cancer survivors and their caregivers. Disappointed that for two years in a row @SenFettermanPA staff would not meet with the Pennsylvania lung cancer advocates that were in town to discuss funding priorities. A number of us traveled from all corners of the state to meet with our representatives. Twice now, the Senator’s staff was not available. Maybe the next time the Senator is in Pittsburgh we can meet over an IC Light and discuss the over 10,000 deaths that have taken place in the State of Pennsylvania these last two years due to lung cancer. Sadly, my wife was one of them. I’m happy to pick up the tab.
