Nagvanshi Kshatriya Shinde/Sinda clan has always been one of the prominent clan among Marathas. Shinde Rane(title) has been described in the 13th Century Marathi text. Jedhe, Shilimkars, Paygude are Sinda clans only There are two prominent families of Shinde clan.

It’s quite ironic to see people quoting sources they haven’t even read properly. The excerpt clearly states: ‘The Scindias claim Rajput descent.’ At the same time, it mentions a connection to the Sind/Naga lineage. Historically, Nagvanshi lineages belonged only to Rajput in multiple regions where Nagvanshi Rajput holdings States Zamindari etc . So presenting this as some ‘anti-Rajput’ claim is simply misleading. In short, the same source they’re using actually acknowledges Rajput descent—if only they had read beyond selective lines. Origin of the Scindia (Shinde) — The founder of the Gwalior Scindia house, Ranoji Scindia, is described in historical records as belonging to the Shudra caste of the Kunbi (Koombi) cultivator community . He initially served under Balaji Vishwanath and rose through service. James Grant Duff, in History of the Mahrattas, states that Ranoji Scindia claimed a Rajput origin to rise up in status ( low born )!!! Thus: Origin: Kunbi (Shudra) Political identity: Maratha Claimed lineage: Rajput (as noted by Duff) Hence, Scindias being Maratha are historically traced to Kunbi (Shudra) roots despite later claims. Maharaja of Gwalior Jiwajirao Schinde. He was literally begging before Lord Mountbatten for ‘greater autonomy’ to preserve his princely perks & later lobbying to keep Gwalior from merging into Madhya Bharat. !!! Cope !!!!!
