I'll be joining other panel members at #THEliveUKIE to discuss learning, teaching and student belonging. Excited to be able to bring my experiences and research to the conversation

@melon_h @LibraryClimb Thanks both. To be honest I think work will do me good. It gives me something to focus on. I think I've just been running at high levels of anxiety without realising and my brain/body have just decided to do a forced stop. I did go out with M this morning which I think helped.

@melon_h @pennygcole I was just going to suggest the same. My counsellor suggested this to me as I was relaying on physical stuff to ground myself during panic attacks, which wasn't always practical. Also can you take some time off? Because you are no good to anyone if you aren't well xx

@pennygcole Sorry to hear that. Have you tried the 5-4-3-2-1 method? Identify five things you can see, four things you can touch, three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste. This can help bring you back to the present moment. Take Care

@TashadenDekker Hopefully there's something they can do. It took five years and having a full on break down on a senior physiotherapist to get my scan. Although the weight comments still continued.

Has to be done. The huge number of adverts for missing horses is presumably the equivalent of today's Facebook stolen bikes groups.

Off to @CSGUKLibraries and I think the conference has already peaked. I've just met a cat on a lead at the station. I challenge anyone to follow that

@LibraryClimb And if gaps in managerial cover exist and staff are expected to step up to fill it, they should be paid accordingly. That's all on the organisation.

Apparently an unpopular opinion in HE - I don’t think any manager of a team/service should be part time. It’s not fair on staff to have absentee managers and it means people who aren’t paid for it have to step up or cover when they’re not there. Why is it so common to see this?

@heroicendeavour This feels quite discrimatory to be honest and puts the emphasis on the individual rather than the organisation to ensure support is in place. Management can't be present all of the time regardless of working hours.

I’m not slamming part-time managers, all kinds of reasons why people need or want to work part-time. But part-time *management*, whether of people or a service, is not good service or good for staff.
