Perfect way to end the year, read our new study on how absence of caspase 8 in #sclc promotes neuronal regrogramming and #metastasis via #necroptosis. @UniCologne @DTG_Cologne @CECAD_ @sfb1399 @UKKoeln nature.com/articles/s4146…

Getting Rosalind Franklin’s story right is crucial, because she has become a role model for women going into science nature.com/articles/d4158…

Thrilled to share our latest paper in Cell Death Discovery! 👉 doi.org/10.1038/s41420… Together with my fantastic co-senior and co-corresponding author @vonKarstedtLab , we uncovered that the BTK inhibitor ibrutinib has a previously unrecognized role in disrupting redox balance and priming DLBCL cells for ferroptosis. We show that ibrutinibchemically scavenges glutathione (GSH) and represses GPX4 translation, thereby amplifying lipid ROS and triggering ferroptotic cell death. This defines ferroptosis as a mechanistic foundation for additive therapy in aggressive and apoptosis-resistant DLBCL. This was a truly collaborative effort, driven by the exceptional first author Anuschka Langpape. Deep thanks also to all authors and our brilliant collaborators across Cologne for their creativity, hard work, and committment. #Ferroptosis #DLBCL #CellDeath #RedoxBiology #BTK #Ibrutinib #CancerResearch #Oncology #TeamScience #CellDeathDiscovery

I’m deeply grateful to @WDR_News for the opportunity to share my scientific journey and perspectives as part of the CANTAR (CANcer TARgeting) network, funded by Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MKW NRW) @MKW_NRW. Public communication is essential to connect research, innovation, and society — thank you for giving science a voice. 🎥🧬 #ScienceCommunication #Research #CANTAR #Innovation #NRW @UKKoeln @BCCologne @CECAD_ @UniCologne @ItalyinGermany

Patient voices are critical. In our ANCA-associated #vasculitis Nat Rev @DiseasePrimers, it was great to work with co-authors @vasculitides and Joyce Kullman @VasculitisFound. Especially in QoL, the future, and the patient experience. rdcu.be/b6uUx

The STING of death continues! Thanks to @NatRevRheumatol (doi.org/10.1038/s41584…) for highlighting our recent @Nature (doi.org/10.1038/s41586…) paper showcasing cell death as a therapeutic avenue in autoimmunity & autoinflammation, (SAVI syndrome).
