@DRECB_1 @Xaraphim In context of the sort of risks being taken by the kind of people who get those ports... that's barely even rounding error, though. Consider the world that Case lives in. 1-10% risk of an infection, cumulative per year, balanced against getting flatlined by ice on any given day.

@LieutenantRusty @Xaraphim I agree if you say “all things considering.” It’s a culture friendly world on one side of the stoma. All infections/all periods are ~10% - 80% reported, multi year cumulative incidence of serious infection is ~ 1% to 10%. In context of an elective digital port, that’s not good.

@DRECB_1 @Xaraphim Somewhere north of 750k people in the US have a stoma. Outside of perioperative complications, the rates of serious issues with infection are very low. Particularly when you consider what's actually going on there.

The responsibility for damage to someone’s high end art piece they decided to risk on the roads should be on them. I should not be subject to risk of bankruptcy simply for driving on the same road as some rich guy.

In California it's mandatory, but there are a shitload of illegals that buy a car with current plates and neither register nor insure it, and simply vanish when they get into accidents and get a different shitbox. This is driving up the cost of insurance like you wouldn't believe.

I pay for *insurance* so that if I damage someone else's car that they will be taken care of and it doesn't come out of my pocket.
