It's Day 8 of our 12 days of Caring at Christmas Campaign - part of our Winter Warmer Appeal 🧡 Claire is the main carer for her 87 year old Mum, and finds LifeCare's free health and wellbeing activities for unpaid carers a "lifeline". Coming along to the classes allow Claire to look after her physical and mental wellbeing and to connect with others in a similar position, so she doesn't feel so isolated. Being a carer is a 24/7, 365 day a year job. It's Day 5 of our 12 days of Caring at Christmas Campaign - part of our Winter Warmer Appeal 🧡 Jenny is a full time carer for her husband, Will, who has cancer. Though she finds being his carer incredibly rewarding, its not without its challenges. Jenny regularly attends LifeCare's free health and wellbeing classes for unpaid carers - which she is "so grateful" for. Coming to the classes enables her to look after her body, but also her mind, as she has found friendship and comfort in the other carers that come along. Thank you to @julietdunlop rom @GMB who visited LifeCare yesterday ahead of today's Scottish Budget to hear about the challenges facing charities and their vital services 🚨 The impact of the Employer National Insurance rise, on top of local government cuts, rising costs and demand for our services is huge. Without Westminster or the Scottish Government doing something to mitigate the additional cost of the National insurance rise we will have to cut vital support to local older people and unpaid carers.
