Life Under Scarcity

Hunger interrupts discipline. Shelter loss collapses futures. What society ignores, I write & work to fix—VA & writer.

Life Under Scarcity (life without certain privileges) isn’t motivation. It’s the documentation. Of hunger. Delay. Trade-offs. Dignity. Of people doing their best with what they don’t have.

Once women have money, they think everything is money. A man can be broke and unemployed and still be above your level.

In this life ehn, begging is a skill. Learn to do it shamelessly especially when you’re in front of your helper.

This may feel off but it is conversations like this that we should be having as a people. Cause when the government shifts their responsibilities to private individuals they make what should be accessible to all to become a luxury that only those with money can enjoy.

Is that why the government is privatizing almost every sector of the economy, even education? Oh, now Nigerians will take learning seriously because they’re being charged for it? Pay to drill your own borehole. Generate your own power. Cover your own healthcare. Wow.

My cousin’s wife was expelled from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) because she was caught with chips in the exam hall. Funny enough, she signed out the same day others were signing out. She and her husband hid it from us. I found out one day while I was looking for my stuff in her bag, but she thinks we don’t know. I even took a picture, but I’m scared to confront her. Only a few of my siblings know. What do you think I do?

You ever notice how Nigerians don’t plan long-term anymore? Everything is “this week,” “this month,” “right now.” Because deep down Tomorrow might be worse.

@samson_samsen I don't know about the rest of the world but what some Nigerian ladies practice on & offline isn't the ideal feminism, cos what's the use of a course that makes you lose your true nature in a quest to score some selfish goals. Trying hard to lose feminity in the name of feminism

Feminism is movement by unhealed individuals. When a movement is built on unhealed individuals, its principles become corrupted. Their doctrines tend toward excess because their lives do. Their demands escalate because their pain does. They fight not for justice, but for validation. They want society to normalize the chaos they cannot tame. This creates a cycle where personal disorder becomes public ideology. They call it liberation, but it is actually escape. They call it empowerment, but it is self-absolution. Such movements undermine marriage, stability, and community because these structures require self-governance. And self-governance is what they lack. Their rebellion becomes evangelism. Their lifestyle becomes legislation. Their pain becomes policy. And in the process, impressionable minds are drawn into a doctrine of disorder. Cultures must learn to identify the difference between legitimate reform and psychological leakage under the noble cloak of activism. Only then can society protect itself from the decay of borrowed chaos.

@Wizarab10 This is even supported in Igbo culture. And I’d dare say it should become a universal rule.

If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights. - Exo 21:10 The Law of Moses This is in line with Islam to provide for all wives equally. Again, there is no religion that forbids polygamy.
