@thepawnbroker1 @GriftReport At Gartree many of us handed in our personal property in 1995 when the IEP scheme started, With the view what we haven't got can't be taken, Many of us at HMP Wellingborough refused TVs in 1999, It wasn't until 2015 when I was in Cat D getting ready for release that I got a TV

@LifeOutside2017 @GriftReport When TV's were first introduced , one of the 'chaps' refused one on 'political' grounds. He'd been prominent on the roof at Strangeways. I was approached one day by his mate whilst doing my rounds. Have a word in his ear boss he's always in mine watching Coronation Street!

Why do prisons allow prisoners to have all of these luxurious like an Xbox and all this food and luxury items, even a guitar. I thought prison was supposed to be punishment, looks more like a spoilt teenagers bedroom.

@NPorter_ Or when people who've never set foot on a Prison landing or spoken to Prisoners or Prison Officers, Think they know what rehabilitates people and prepares them for release, These EXPERTS need to start talking to people with actual live experience of the Prison system

One of the wildest things about social media is when global experts share their evidence based position, only to be hounded by people who disagree, typically because of their own anecdotal experience, and somehow think they know more than the actual Subject expert. It’s nuts!

@Liyana338931741 @SheriffNottz @nottspolice @carolinenotts Another issue is Drug free wings that started 30 years ago, There being rebranded as Incentivised Substance Free Living wings (ISFL) Another farce as Drug users drink large amounts of water to flush out drugs from their system and give negative tests then continue to take drugs

that perspective matters, especially coming from someone who’s actually experienced the system from the inside. Blaming things like drones might explain part of the problem, but it can also distract from deeper issues around internal accountability. If staff involvement is known or suspected, then focusing only on external causes avoids the harder questions. That’s where trust really breaks down when the narrative doesn’t match what people on the ground have seen or experienced. It also shows how these problems can persist over time if they’re not properly addressed. Without real transparency and accountability, the same patterns just repeat, which feeds into wider concerns about fairness and the risk of Miscarriage of Justice.

@TheHowardLeague Smoking items were banned in closed Prisons in 2018 it's only Open Prisons that people can smoke in these days, The fact Prisoners can buy vapes and use them to start fires means vapes should be banned aswell and replaced with nicotine patches instead which would stop cell fires

Prisons are under enormous pressure, but this is no excuse for inaction on fire safety. Overcrowding is a problem of politicians’ own making, and projections indicate that the prison population will continue to rise. How can ministers waste billions on building new jails when lives depend on them fixing the prisons we already have? theguardian.com/society/2026/m…

@Liyana338931741 @SheriffNottz @nottspolice @carolinenotts I agree They blame Drones for contraband getting on the landings, In every prison I was in I knew which Officers or Civilian Staff to approach for contraband and I got out in 2017, It seems nothing has changed from what newly released people tell me who I Mentor at a hostel

hearing experiences like that is deeply troubling. When people believe that officials within the system are assisting offenders or acting improperly, it completely undermines trust in the fairness of the process. No matter the circumstances, everyone is supposed to be treated according to the same rules, with integrity at every stage. When that doesn’t happen, it raises serious concerns about accountability and the risk of Miscarriage of Justice whether that’s through unfair advantage, misconduct, or failure to act properly.

Ashley has spent years in prison for crimes he didn’t commit, and it’s exactly because of these systemic failures from overworked investigators to mismanaged evidence that wrongful convictions occur. The role of people raising awareness, documenting these cases, and holding the system accountable is crucial. Without public attention, transparency, and pressure, these injustices can remain hidden indefinitely. @Shuggie556 @seanbwparker @AccusedScots @purposeday @lizyeld @RebelGal01 @FionaDRichmond1 @EmpowerInnocent @NadiaWhittomeMP @LilianGreenwood

@NotThatBigIan This helps the community/victims feel safer when people get released, But Probation Officers are already under pressure due to increased case loads, I'm an Ex-Lifer/Mentor with Probation I see the way staff struggle when I'm in the office and this could in reality be unworkable

And with the strategic nous we've come to know and love, this jam tonorrow boast announced on *same day* BBC reveal 32% of probation appointments with very high-risk offenders, such as child abusers and rapists, did not take place because of unmanageable supervision workloads. 🤷‍♂️

Ah, lads. Even the NAO says probation is ‘unsustainable’: only 26% of targets met, risk properly assessed in just 28% of cases. More surveillance, less public protection, front line staff missing or broken with workload. None of this is remotely real.
Ministry of Justice@MoJGovUK

High-risk offenders will face greater and closer supervision after release from prison, to cut crime and reduce reoffending. That means: ✅Thousands more offenders tagged with GPS and alcohol monitors ✅Cutting-edge tech for probation staff ✅Increased probation workforce

@Liyana338931741 @SheriffNottz @nottspolice @carolinenotts I live in Nottingham and remember the 1980s when many of the serious crime squad based at Radford Road Police Station were sacked for involvement in corruption, And in the early 2000s Officers being sacked from Oxclose Lane Police Station for helping a local crime family

@Liyana338931741 @bridgetmcinern1 They are held purely on the assumption that they may reoffend in the future or have mental health issues that haven't been treated caused by being on indefinite sentences with no release date, They all need reviewing by a panel separate to the Parole Board and releasing ASAP

the situation around Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) is widely seen as deeply unjust. Although the sentence was abolished, thousands of people were left serving it with no clear release date, which creates a sense of endless punishment that goes beyond what many feel is fair or proportionate. The fact that people remain in prison years after their original tariff has expired and that some have died while still under IPP highlights the human cost of leaving this issue unresolved. It’s not surprising that there are growing calls for reform, including setting clear release pathways or dates to bring IPP prisoners in line with other sentencing frameworks.

Serious problems for high security Cat B HMP Woodhill. “Drugs easily available” means there are solid routes in to the jail for all contraband, phones, weapons, food, drugs. Violence follows this type of security breach.

🚨SICK MONSTERS JAILED🚨 SICK DJ & ADOPTED SISTER LOVER CAGED AGAIN FOR RAPING SCHOOLGIRLS! Darren Gibson, 56, a trusted Leeds youth club DJ, and his adopted sister/girlfriend Rebecca Kirton, 41, systematically groomed and abused girls aged 9-15 between 1997-2008 at discos, parties and “crisps & pop” nights. Gibson raped victims (one just 12), plied them with booze & drugs, even strangled one unconscious after a tent sleepover, telling her she was “soiled goods”. Kirton smirked during rapes, facilitated access and joined in the abuse herself. After 12 more victims came forward, Gibson pleaded guilty to 43 new counts including 8 rapes — given another 12 years (total 36). Kirton got +8 years (total 20) at Leeds Crown Court.
