This #IWD2026, we recognise women across LIFT’s network—recipients, partners, and staff—strengthening communities across Myanmar. Under the theme “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” we reaffirm the need to remove barriers so women can lead and thrive.

Sometimes, less is more. Zero or minimum tillage reduces soil disturbance, protects moisture, lowers fuel and labor costs, and supports soil organisms. Healthy soil does not always need to be turned over, it needs to be protected. #soilhealth

Kitchen waste does not have to be wasted. On a healthy farm, dry leaves, crop residues, kitchen scraps, and manure become #organicfertiliser. Through #EMBokashi and vermicomposting, farmers restore soil nutrients, cut chemical fertiliser use, and lower input costs. #soilhealth

Across Myanmar, farmers are turning to practical, locally suited cover crops to restore their land. Some species, such as sunn hemp and legumes, support long-term soil health. LIFT supports locally suited cover crops that help farmers protect their land and prepare for harvests.

Strong soil is built below the surface. Understanding how cover crops quietly protect land and prepare it for the next harvest is essential for everyone who works on the land.

In Myanmar, over half of all land faces medium to strong land degradation—making soil care more important than ever. Cover crops help farmers restore soil health, retain moisture, and cut chemical use. This week, we are sharing how they quietly support stronger harvests.

Providing training to enhance the income potential of #youth is crucial for building the workforce of the future. LIFT—whose purpose is to strengthen income-generation opportunities—is funding projects that enhance sewing and general business skills. #IYD2025

Half of the people on our planet are 30 or younger, and this is expected to reach 57% by the end of 2030. In #Myanmar, the population also reflects this global view. #IYD2025
