The Ligatus website is likely to go offline in July for a short period of time while we are working towards transferring it to a new hosting institution. More information on temporary access to the Language of Bindings thesaurus will follow.
A few finely decorated bindings for the festive period.
Merry Christmas to all those celebrating🎄
These beautiful bindings are all from the @CBL_Dublin rare book collection, and were just a few of the books we enjoyed looking at with @Ligatus_UAL#Bookbinding#CBLconservation
Some planned maintenance on the Ligatus website today and tomorrow (we were just waiting for the summer school to be over). Apologies for the disruption.
Day 1 (week 2) @Ligatus_UAL complete with a morning spent looking at wax tablets to beautiful Coptic bindings.
Afternoon spent developing schemas for structured openly shared data.😮💨

Day 3 (week 2) @Ligatus_UAL complete and it was a tough one…whole day of describing, encoding #xml data and mapping it to #CIDOC_CRM@CRMSIG a conceptual model for cultural heritage objects. 👩🏼💻🤯
Key message is libraries (especially!) need to have open licenses for #linkeddata
Last day at @Ligatus_UAL and I will miss the best classes, inspiring visits & amazing colleagues I’ve met from across the world. Thanks to Nicholas Pickwoad, Athanasios Velios, Georgios Boudalis & @EdwardWorthLib for hosting us in Dublin 2022 👏🏻📜 📚

What an amazing week spent at the @EdwardWorthLib in Dublin for the @Ligatus_UAL Summer School! Very fascinating to learn about Eastern Mediterranean binding structures from Giorgos Boudalis and also ways of using linked data for better record keeping in bookbinding research.
