🧵A mini thread on the big news today in microbiome therapeutics... To date, no live biotherapeutic products have been approved to go on the market as drugs. But the FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee held a meeting today... a LONG meeting.

@FAtreatmenttalk If it’s a supplement and makes no claims on the bottle, it can be on the market in six months. Real prevention studies like LEAP take decades

There are simple ways we could fix the problems cited by Dr Lack. Health policy makers must see that knowledge alone will not lead to results.

I just tried a small amount of peanut powder. Its my baby’s infant safe one that hasn’t been manufactured alongside any tree nuts. It’s been 5 minutes. I’m ok. No symptoms. This is a big moment for me but means nothing to anyone else. 😂

Despite confirming potentially life-threatening allergies to walnut, cashew, pecan and pistachio - there is also good news! Allergist says it appears I am NOT allergic to almond, peanut, macadamia. 😲 Doc wants me to eat some peanut butter and “enjoy it”!

It's my last week at Mount Sinai after 20+ happy productive years, I'm sad to say goodbye (although more like au revoir) to so many great colleagues

Most parents and patients have NO idea what 'asthma' looks like - it's really NOT that obvious. It also LOOKS different in every person. Asthma is a constellation of: signs, symptoms, objective tests (where available) and response to treatment. Don't assume. Discuss. #asthma

🚨🚨⚠️⚠️ The Dutch protesters are pouring manure on government offices, flooding streets, and becoming all together ungovernable. This uprising is in response to the WEF controlled government shutting down farms to "save the planet." You have to see this: thecountersignal.com/dutch-farmers-…

Dear allergists! We got a new question today! If a baby eats an allergen that mom is allergic to, is it safe for MOM to breastfeed the same day? Might that cause a reaction for the mother? @VenterCarina @DrDougMackMD @ATLergist

@GemmaEvans @theallergyfairy We hope you saw the concurring advice on the other thread re gentle washing and a “chaser”. And @AllergyKidsDoc is right that your personal care team will best be able to help with the particulars! Happy feeding!!

@theallergyfairy I see! We’re starting on the @LilMixins powder sachets but as frequent exposure is key, we will surely graduate to real foods at some point and batch freezing sounds like a good idea! Thanks

Feeding my baby foods that have the potential to kill me is scary. Due to begin early allergen introduction for her. Question: How do I breastfeed safely after she’s eaten foods I have an anaphylactic allergy to? (1/3)

@LilMixins @VenterCarina @ATLergist I am unaware of any reports of significant reaction, however, it could depend on the integrity of mom's nipple (ie significant cracks etc.). But overall pretty safe and most food leaves the mouth very quickly!
