@WildRoseXP @thescottbarber Because the Liberals introduced a prohibitive carbon tax and a series of bills that specifically target the oil and gas industry. The carbon tax applies to Canadian oil, but not to foreign oil imported by Eastern Canada.

Canada literally has the dumbest energy policy in the world. We impose punitive carbon taxes on our oil production, but we IMPORT oil from the Middle East without any carbon taxes. It’s so absurd it’s hard to explain. I’m surprised it took Albertans this long to get fed up.

I’m fine with renewable energy. It should be pursued. But actively demonizing and taxing Canadian oil on one side of the country while importing oil on the other side of the country is absolutely mental.

We really live in a petrostate where rich oil and gas companies have convinced politicians that fossil fuels are better than renewables - even though regular people are paying more to fuel their cars & heat their homes and the fossil fuel climate crisis is accelerating. Bonkers.
