Githui Ivy Wangechi was a bright young woman who scored straight A’s in her KCSE at Alliance Girls High School before joining Moi University’s School of Medicine, where she was in her sixth year pursuing Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Her promising life was cut short after she was murdered by her boyfriend, Naftali Kinuthia, following rejection. He claimed he had spent money on her during campus years.

Her country was a literal settler colony ruled by Queen Elizabeth (one of the whitest women) whose army dropped over 6 million bombs on her people!

She lives in the US now, but she’s Kenyan and was probably surrounded by people of the same race, so she didn’t have to think about how her race relates to her feminism. Many African cultures are v patriarchal, so her womanhood is a higher priority than race. I’m assuming.

I also love my long walks and keeping track of my steps.
I was attacked by a random man with a weapon on an evening walk (7pm) early last year...
I no longer do my nature walks & hikes... the best I can do is maybe visit very public spaces ie Uhuru Park & malls.
The trauma still lingers 🙂↔️😭

As a woman who loves my long walks, I am now retreating in fear. This city is not safe AT ALL for any of us, young or older. A 54 year old woman out on her morning walk vanishes. A younger woman's torso found inside a Naija bag, head, arms, legs missing. We are in danger.

So yesterday I was having a random conversation with a Luhya guy and what he told me genuinely shocked me.
He said whenever he goes to visit his parents back home, he NEVER drives his car directly there. Never.
Instead, he parks the car in a nearby town… then boards a matatu or a boda boda kwenda home quietly like an undercover agent 😭
At first I thought the guy was joking.
Then he looked me dead in the eye and told me:
“Bro… witchcraft huko ni real. The moment people see you looking successful, driving vizuri, dressing vizuri… some neighbors start planning for your downfall immediately.”
I laughed nervously waiting for the punchline lakini this man was dead serious.
He started telling me stories of people who suddenly lost businesses, got strange illnesses, family drama appearing from nowhere immediately after “showing signs of making it.”
Ati mwingine alikuwa anaenda ushago akiwa na Prado. Within months biashara ikaanguka vibaya mpaka akauza gari .
Another guy apparently built a beautiful home and suddenly everyone in the village started “monitoring him spiritually” .
Now I don’t know whether this is facts, fear, coincidence ama pure village politics… but the way this guy explained it had me mesmerized the entire night .
Meanwhile huku Central nobody even cares. You can literally land with a helicopter, park three Range Rovers outside the gate, build a castle in the village and people will just ask, “Ni ya diesel ama petrol?” then continue with their lives 😭
People from that region… how true is this stuff? Because I genuinely thought witchcraft stories were just African movie scripts until yesterday 😳
Anyway. No Weapons Fashioned against you shall prosper and every tongue that rises against you in judgement you shall condemn.

Alex once held a PhD and a future full of promise, but life took a tragic turn.
After the loss of someone he deeply loved, grief slowly pulled him into depression. Over time, he began to lose his strength, his stability, and everything he had built. Step by step, his world slipped away.
Today, Alex lives on the streets, finding shelter wherever he can and surviving day by day through begging.
It’s a painful reminder that life can shift in an instant, and even the brightest paths can fade when grief and hardship become too heavy to bear.
