The annual question that all true football memorabilia questions ask, why oh why did you insist on punch holing a fabulous football programme! Arsenal v Preston 1941 league final at Wembley. Still happy to add it to the collection! @WembleyArchive @jslovechild @footballmemorys

@LouiseCollisArt @jackthurston Your local authority has local powers to prevent footway parking and this can be monitored by council employed parking wardens. You need to contact your local councillor in this case. Total waste of time, in my opinion, involving the police.

So the police and press have just decended on my road in #Abergavenny Keir Starmer must be incredibly eager to sort out my hot topic of illegal pavement parking. We’ll see….

@AngusM1966 @AidanMageeTV Apparently it was owned by Khan the owner of Fulham FC but he sold it to an unknown buyer last September.

The super yacht Kismet anchored in the bay this morning. The joke locally is that we've finally got some visitors who can afford the tour at the new Port Ellen distllery 😀

@_dramface @ardnahoe Nice review Wally but one correction as distilling didn’t start until October 2018 and not a year earlier as you state.

@MemorabiliaMal My Uncle proudly told he how played with Tom during WW2 whilst they were both stationed in Egypt and always maintained that he was a better player than Sir Stanley Matthews.

@The_SimonInglis My one and only visit to Craven Cottage on a Good Friday in 1964 or 1965 and it certainly wasn’t open terrace on all three sides as that photo shows.

Yes I think Craven Cottage too - as you say Weight lived in Fulham & worked most of his life in London. Cranes were in Stevenage Wharf at rear of Hammersmith End. Maybe title 'Cup Tie' was random as Fulham's draw in '61 and '62 didn't include opposition in red & white stripes?
Eric Wyn Roberts@WynneRoberts

@The_SimonInglis Weight grew up in Fulham. Here's a pic of Craven Cottage at around the same time as the painting. Fulham play in white of course. Sorry I don't know who to credit for the photo.

Mystery press photo - legend Wilf Mannion training, I thought it was #Middlesbrough #mfc gear, players & location but I'm advised not #Boro - so probably England post-war to about 1951. Can anyone help please, are they England players & where & when could it be? Thanks as always.

@MemorabiliaMal Bruce in the Cambridge Schoolboys XI in 1960-61. He is on the front row second from the right and despite his size his early talent meant he was playing in a side with team mates and opposition generally two years older. Some talent and still remembered in the area.

@fredcumpstey @MemorabiliaMal Bobby played in very good Cambridge Schoolboys Under 15 side that had an excellent ESFA cup run and I watched them at the Abbey Stadium before a crowd of several thousand. It featured Willy Carr for the home side who would go on to be even more successful than Bobby.

@fredcumpstey @MemorabiliaMal Yes I recall his extremely short spell with Blackburn and it was good financial business for them and guess hailing from Cambridge he was happy to move down South an probably never wanted to be involved in the player exchange for Hunter. #winwin

@winnading @AngusM1966 @ardnahoe Correct. Only Kilchoman have a cafeteria if you discount the limited facilities currently at Ardbeg. I think these ancilllary distillery facilities don’t make any money.

Sad news for the staff concerned and Islay as a whole. @ardnahoe’s visitor centre was a spectacular addition to the island’s visitor facilities - can’t help thinking it would not be closing if it were not for the ferry fiasco and it’s knock-on impact on tourist numbers. 1/3

Front page news this week: Ardnahoe Distillery proposes to make 14 staff redundancies and effectively close its visitor centre. Report in this week’s issue. On sale, Saturday 13 January, price £1.60

@AngusM1966 @ardnahoe Ardnahoe say it is ‘only’ the cafe, not the tours and shop of the rest of the visitor centre? I don’t know all the reasons for the cafe closure but can’t solely be ferries? Isn’t ferries affecting closures on mainland. General cost of living problems a big factor, I think.
