A recent report from UNICEF says that extreme heat creates health concerns for children, pregnant women and babies. It also says that around the world, nearly half a billion children live in places where there are at least twice the number of 95 degree or more days than there were in the 1960s. “We see that children all over the world are really struggling with the extreme heat,” @LilyCaprani told @johnyangtv.

@JohnsonDeltaRe I have already done this twice. It seems to be a waste of time. I’m sad to be resorting to Twitter but can’t get action any other way. I have found many others facing the same issue. Suggest you examine your process and remedy the issue quickly, to avoid further action.

154 million lives have been saved through immunization in the last 50 years. It is one of humanity’s greatest achievements. But there is still work to do. We can’t stop now. We must ensure that every child has access to life-saving vaccines. unicef.org/press-releases…

Returning home from #COP28 I do feel there's room for optimism. The result isn't perfect but the *direction* on fossil fuel phase out is clear. And there were some real breakthroughs for climate justice for children too. Read out conclusions here unicef.org/press-releases…

For the first time #COP28 paid special attention to the unique and disproportionate impacts of climate change on children's health and wellbeing.   Children cannot wait for adults to act. The impacts of climate change are here now. Later is too late.

“COP28 has broken new ground by officially acknowledging that limiting global temperature rises to 1.5 degrees requires drastic reductions in global greenhouse gas emissions and a transition away from fossil fuels." Statement from @kittyvdheijden as #COP28 concludes.

“We have most of the technical answers to solve climate problems affecting the most vulnerable – children & young people. What’s missing is the political commitment." @MarinaSilva, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change of Brazil remarks at a UNICEF-led event at #COP28.

Only half of young people can identify the correct definition of climate change. A failure to understand the climate crisis hampers our ability to respond to it. This is why investing in climate education can put our planet on the path to recovery. 👇 #COP28

Children are uniquely vulnerable to the impacts of climate change - which impacts their health and well-being. They are bearing the brunt of this crisis. World leaders must take urgent #ClimateAction to protect children and prepare them for a climate-changed world. #COP28

Climate-related loss and damage – such as the loss of land, life, livelihoods, or cultural heritage – is one of the greatest intergenerational injustices children face today. This is how we can help right these wrongs. #COP28 unicef.org/globalinsight/…

Such a pleasure to work with passionate professionals like ⁦@UNICEF⁩ Global Director of Programs George Laryea-Adjei. Amidst a hectic COP28 agenda in Dubai to avoid human suffering on a warming, wrecked planet, a brief moment for a warm hug in front of the hotel X-mas tree.

"This is about aid. This is a critically important day." Unicef's James Elder tells #R4Today there is 'an unmistakable tension' in the air as a four-day pause between Israel and Hamas begins, but it's 'a moment of relief' for the people caught up in the fighting.

Without fuel, hospitals and desalination plants in Gaza can't operate, and supplies won't be delivered. @unicefchief is calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access, and the safe release of all abducted and detained children.
