@PublicSafetyMMC We all know you’re kinda slow, but we didn’t know the level. You can’t go to “a house of interest”, walk around, take a video, post on the net saying “we will go back soon”. Are you warning/telling them to clean up before you come back? Ay bandla!

"ALLEGEDLY" DOES NOT SHIELD THE MEDIA Akani Retirement Fund Administrators has won a Johannesburg High Court ruling against Independent Media for publishing defamatory articles. Judge Shanaaz Mia ordered the media group to remove the articles and social media posts, issue an apology within two days, and pay Akani's legal costs for two counsels. Damages will be assessed later. The court found the reports unfounded, malicious, and in breach of journalistic ethics, as Independent Media failed to verify claims or give Akani a proper chance to respond. Akani chairman Zamani Letjane (pictured) hailed the verdict as a lesson for South African media on fair reporting. The case sets a precedent that using "alleged" does not shield publishers from liability for harmful, unverified stories. Full judgement - ln.run/zf1j2

A suspected hitman has just been killed in a shootout with police in Pinetown. The 41-year-old was wanted for more than ten cases of murder, primarily on the KZN South Coast. In a few hours, he allegedly would have carried out a hit on officials from the Umdoni Local Municipality. A joint operation by the SAPS eThekwini District Trio Crimes Unit, SAPS KZN CI, Durban Metro Police Trio Crimes Unit and Durban Metro Police K9 Unit uncovered the man’s hideout during the early hours of this morning. He allegedly opened fire on the officers during his imminent arrest, but died in the gunfight. Guns have been seized at the scene. @eNCA
