We have some deeply sad and personal news to report. Ruschell Boone, an Emmy award-winning journalist and our beloved colleague here at NY1, passed away Sunday due to complications related to pancreatic cancer. She was 48. specne.ws/Ue4aVC

Great news. My tumor shrank significantly. The cancer hasn’t spread. Now, on to the possible life saving Whipple Surgery on Wednesday. Early detection is key. Prayers work. Thank you for each 1. Surgery is tough, but I’ll travel any road that allows me to live. #cancer #fighter

The story that turned me into a NY1 viewer! I was just out of college, living in the Village and teaching in Washington Heights and stayed up all night watching @NY1 to see if Mayor Bloomberg would keep schools open if trains shut (they did and he did).

Also… now after working so closely with Lewis Dodley, @bcuza and @patkiernan for so many years, funny how during those few days in 2005, I had felt like I really got to know them. The intimacy of TV news during upheaval and disruption.

I remember thinking “what is this magical station that covers the city so throughly, never goes to sleep and is always on when I push power on my TV?”

@katiebakes Yes, yes, yes. Never was able to figure out how to nurse my premature twins, so instead became insane about pumping everything they consumed for six months. What a waste of time I could have been holding my babies (or doing anything else).

when my sons were babies I was so hell-bent on nursing that it also turned into a pumping obsession so I could “bank” enough milk for them to have while I was away on work trips. (I also used to pump while away and overnight-FedEx the milk back home with dry ice??! whyyy)

After doing my best to escape it for two years while also trying to return to “normal” life, COVID found me. I’m overall fine - feels like a cold - sore throat, dry cough, and some aches. I am most grateful for my vaccine!
