Burying wood for combating climate change is an idea being developed and implemented by Prof. Zeng at U Maryland in the past 20 years. It has a huge potential to bend the atm. CO2 growth curve as wood availability is high and the durability of buried wood is long.

Controlled burn would not have been possible here - it’s not a forest with thousands of open acres, it’s canyons in neighborhoods. No rain and 100 mph winds are the culprit here More broadly, no one does controlled burns at a large enough scale to help. There’s liability concerns and people hate smoke. Look up Hermitts Peak New Mexico fire

Trump said the federal government should not be paying emergency wildfire aid while California is refusing to do controlled burns and clean up forests in the name of environmentalism
