Glorious pink, heavenly white Wild explosion, Spring’s delight. Your boughs lie heavy oozing life Bursting, Nature’s gorgeous wife. I know tomorrow brings decay Your light will dim, then fade away. But let me share your fleeting prime Here, right now. This is our. time.

@davidcornock Completely ineffective. The speaker seems unable to put a stop to such government action, from whichever governing party.

As is now traditional, this UQ was immediately preceded by the b*ll*cking of a minister from the Speaker's chair for advance briefing outside the Commons.
House of Commons Speaker@CommonsSpeaker

I have granted the following urgent question in the @HouseofCommons today. From @CPhilpOfficial to ask @ShabanaMahmood, the Secretary of State for Home Department @ukhomeoffice, if she will make a statement on the Government’s recently announced immigration policy and .. (1/2)

@mrrobosborne It should be. If not, we're not being serious about tackling our economy and our health service. Both are dependent on a well educated population.

@afneil Oh they do. Public servants everywhere have been using this language for ten years or more.

“Move at pace to deliver change’. The language of the regime. Nobody else talks like this.

Starmer will attempt next week to enact advice the likes of @HarrietHarman & Brown. No 10 source says 'PM recognises the need for government to address the issues highlighted by the Mandelson revelations' & that work began last week on this: PM's instructed officials to move at pace to deliver change. He hopes to update the country as early as tmrw'

The accountability gap down the middle of the Atlantic is widening so fast: Could a UK Prime Minister go off back of Epstein but not a single man in America lose his job or go to prison for what THEY did?

On this day in 1918, Tbilisi State University was founded - a beacon of Georgian education and free thought. Today, after 108 years, the ruling Georgian Dream party ended its independence, politicizing the university and threatening academic freedom.

The Harding Prize for Trustworthy Communication is now open for entries until 15th February. We are looking for examples that inform people engagingly, without trying to persuade them what to think or do. Each Harding Prize is worth £3,141.59... wintoncentre.github.io/harding-prize/

Swansea City 2 West Bromwich Albion 2 (6-5 on penalties). Very unusually, I watched the game from the first row rather than the back of the stand. The perceived faster pace and congested space add to the excitement. I have no idea how managers follow the game from the touchline.

As the credits rolled, nobody in the cinema moved. That was the emotional punch of #Hamnet - an extraordinary film with an astonishing performance from Jesse Buckley. If I woz more cleverer I'd have understood a lot more than I did.

Terry Yorath was one of my early heroes when he played in the great Leeds side and for Wales. I loved the fact that he wasn't one of the glamour stars and had to fight hard for his place at Leeds. He then had to deal with terrible tragedy. So sad. RIP.

After nearly 40 years living here it was time to see a film at the oldest film club in Wales, Abergavenny's no less. #Santosh was both gripping and repulsive, telling the story of a corrupt and violent police force. The film captured conflicts and tensions brilliantly.

The USA already has a defence agreement with Denmark that gives them exclusive and full military access to Greenland. But they are not using it. They have downgraded their presence by 99%. Now, apparently, they are telling their base that they need to invade and annex Greenland because they need to have a large military presence.

I don't believe anyone in #TheArchers is capable of hitting George over the head with a bottle of win in a pre-meditated way. It could therefore only be one of Markie's mates or Clive. Anything else would run against the characters whicb have been created.

@JaneBridger9 I'm loving it! Just a little gobsmacked though that George is able to be so talkative and not still unconscious. Dramatic licence? #TheArchers

I am sure this should be nail biting , cliff hanging, full of drama and a sense of jeopardy BUT it’s so dull …. Reduced to mediocrity- #TheArchers . The poor quality is the only consistency. The actors deserve better!

Very different from the film - it's only really the idea which survived - it was brave to write #TheZoneOfInterest but it doesn't quite come off. A dark comedy about the management of a concentration camp, the book generates uncomfortable laughter but loses its way a bit.

Great quote: "The war in Ukraine did not start with weapons. It started with disinformation, propaganda and lies that prepared the ground for violence. Disinformation must be challenged early, strongly and clearly, because hate spreads faster than facts." theguardian.com/politics/2026/…
