I just finished watching A New Hope.. if I am entirely honest that was the first time I watched it all the way through. I caught basically both halves before but never sat down to watch it all at once. A few notes. 1. Feels like nobody really treats the Rebels like they're treated here, like damn this was an actual army, uniformed soldiers with real ships and such. After years and years of Star Wars Rebels, Rogue One, Andor, etc. where it feels like they're all just partisans, it's odd. 2. This is a very funny movie, funnier than I remember it being. Han menacing Luke about Leia later in the film had me dying. 3. It can be very cheesy, but it was a fantastic film. Reaffirming my beliefs that people who say Star Wars was always slop or something of the sort are full of it.

One story they could have adapted from EU with the older original actors is the Legacy of the Force series. It's what i was personally hoping for. Darth Caedus would have been a far better villain than Kylo, given who he was and how he becomes Darth Caedus in the first place. But then i feel the events of the New Jedi Order are also pretty pivitol to the characters they become in Legacy, so not so easy to simply adapt Legacy without some changes.

@LinkVagar @Undoomed I can agree to that.. which is why I have no issues with the actors, nor their adaptations. Like Hayden who was hated on for being Anakin, even the child actor.. it was horrible how they were treated. AND THOSE WERE ESTABLISHED CHARACTERS! So I definitely can agree with that

Yes, i agree they had material they could have taken ideas from. And they could have introduced characters from the EU that have never been in live action before. But in truth, they couldn't adapt the EU too directly, because that would require a re-casting of all the major characters. And we all saw how that turned out with Solo. A movie that isn't even that bad, but was shat on because Han wasn't played by Harrison Ford. The fans that complain about them not adapting the EU are the very same fans that would complain and reject it due to the need for re-casts. Because Star Wars fans are fickle. I should know, i'm one of them.
