Meet Novela! She's an unyielding noblewoman who likes horseback riding, adventures with the scribe Thangelos Irivar, relating to people . . . and wrestles with her father's ominous warning: no one is to be trusted. Follow the link in the comments to read more! #writingcommunity

@timmckay52 Right though? I always struggle with drafting the middle. It's almost always where I slow down or hit writer's block

❓ Anyone notice the last stretch of a book is always the easiest to write? ❓ Just me? I find by the time I get there I've had the scenes playing in my mind so long that they just slide out onto the page. Wish the rest were that easy 😂

@DWARussell22 Right now I try to leave a review for each book I read, but I don't think I started that until I was in college. And I didn't start getting stuff published until college...you might be onto something 🤔

I’m curious. Most authors desperately want more reviews, but how many book reviews did you leave before you became an author? Looking back, I don’t think I left more than a handful. Safe to say I didn’t leave reviews on the majority of books I read. You?🤔

Today I put my short story prequel, Fate Weaver, on Royal Road in hopes of getting more eyes on it. And boy howdy did it. The view numbers are still small, but its climbing faster than any other platform I've tried.

#WritingPrompts #Writingq #writerscommunity Do you have a complex villain? In A Human Among Monsters, Franklin Actaeon, correctly, recognizes the current system is a complete mess and wants to be the better leader Of course, he’s not above playing dirty to achieve his goals.

@masterpgrated @RoweWriter *I should clarify. If she was having an off day and elaborates on her reasoning later, that would be great. Benefit of the doubt, right? But if this seems to be a pattern where there’s lack of communication, it might not be the right fit for you

@masterpgrated @RoweWriter Yeah, that’s not a great way to do that 😅 It might be worth finding a different agent

I asked my agent what the next steps were and she told me to just self publish??? Uhh what? Is this normal?

How about a nice River cruise, with stops and rowboat sessions as you rumble along. And well, I suppose you could ask why, not universally so, but most of the Dead, at least the ones that get sent to The River, have a rough inkling, as it usually has to do with something you last experienced.

Writers, you just got sucked into the world of your most recent book/WIP. What's the first tool or object you're looking for to help you fit in? (Or survive). Flight: I'm looking for weapons to protect myself with. Just in case. #writingcommunity #writingq #qotd

Six chapters away from done. This Selvandrea sequel has been in the works for ages, and the end is finally in sight. Cover art on its way. Audiobook to follow (updated Selvandrea audio coming soon). Spin-off anthology entries and a novella already in motion. 2026 is lookin' 👌

@RoweWriter @masterpgrated Agreed. It's fine if she truly thinks you'd do better self publishing--there are certain markets that are easier to reach that traditional publishers can't. But she needs to explain that in her response to you if that's the case.

@Robinov14 Keep it tight. If you used a word (say the adjective mysterious), don't use it again. Every word needs to have a purpose. And if you're repeating a word/phrase, you're using up valuable space when you already don't have much room. Feel free to DM me the blurb—I'll take a look☺️

Rob started writing his 2nd novel
Hi #writingcommunity I'll be writing the back cover blurb for my 1st novel soon. I'm self-publishing this summer. What's a quick tip to do (or don't do) before I dig in? I'd like to get it right by my 500th iteration. 😉

Writing challenge: ABC race Set a timer for 15 minutes. First word of each sentence begins with the next letter of the alphabet, starting with a. How far can you get before time runs out? I was so close! I got stuck on x 😔 #writingprompt #writingcommunity #speedwrite

Brynn D 🎨🪔 | attitude of gratitude
Alvitan cities are extensively engineered in circular, spoked arrangements with fortified city centers (including govt buildings). Some Tanyaran cities somewhat resemble this due to the Alvitan occupation. Older cities are sprawling arrangements integrated with nature.
Linnae@Linnaeus_Writer

What are the cities like in your book? Flight: Human cities are fairly simple (think medieval times), although technology is growing. Elder (magic users) cities are a lot more supernatural-looking, magic-infused, and are often intwined with the surrounding nature. #writingq
