I’m passionate about UDL as a teaching approach that gives every student meaningful access to learning. To support this, I’ve created resources and a lesson template to support staff in integrating technology in a meaningful, accessible way. sites.google.com/view/miss-aird…

We’ve been working a lot on all the factors that can impact fluency. This week, we’re putting everything together. These two took a syntactically complex sentence containing multisyllabic words (& a homophone that needed to be clarified), & broke it down to read it beautifully.

Paused our vocab and nonfiction work today to practice a foundational strategy. We practice visualizing all the time, but what about adjusting your mental images as you read and receive more information? You’re the director and you need to fix the scene in your mind! 🎥🎬

When our Math Specialist shared this idea during our first coaches meeting, we knew it would be a great self assessment tool. What we didn’t expect was how much even our youngest students would find it meaningful. Checked in ✅!

Our first grade team is really embracing cross curricular applications to help with transfer. Check out this writing activity incorporating their science topic that they’re also now reading and writing about using our grammar program. 🤩

We practiced testing strategies, made a plan, and now we’re gearing up for NJSLA by reminding ourselves what we need to do in order to be our best selves on test day! Stay tuned for the antidote and which groups find it! @CentralES1 @HaddonSchools

I don't always get to see my students on test day, so they took home their own reminder of all the strategies we've practiced to stay calm & focused, preview the text, remember what they've read, & how to get unstuck on tricky questions. Plus a lil love note to cheer them on! 📣

Unscrambling sentences with sight words and CVC words then recording and adding capitalization and punctuation. So proud of these rockstar Kindergarteners! 🤩 @CentralES1

Practicing some high-leverage testing and comprehension strategies with 3rd-5th graders this month. First up: Sketchnoting! Some student feedback- relaxing, fun, helps me focus, helps me remember stuff! 💡👏 @CentralES1

Our nation’s children are our most precious resource. When our kids thrive, America thrives. Dismantling the Department of Education will overwhelm local school systems, further burn out our teachers, and hurt children from all backgrounds.

So much fun at @CentraES1 Math & Literacy Family Game Night last week! My favorite night of the year getting to spend extra time with our students and their families playing games that encourage the use of math and literacy skills in a fun way!

For Read Across America, Mrs. Saline and I visited our youngest Cheetahs for a read aloud paired with a STEM activity! Our preschoolers listened to interactive story This is Owl and then counted out “sticks” to build a nest to keep their eggs safe! @CentralES1 @HaddonSchools
