We should be getting the job done in 90 minutes against a Burnley team with nothing to play for. 1 win in 2026.
But Anthony Taylor and Stockley Park have had an absolute howler not giving that foul on Emi Buendia. Refereeing standards in the mud as per usual.

Another cock up by @PGMOL_FA
36 games no penalties. Anthony Taylor is a joke

Sorry, what??? No penalty? 😳 I think #AstonVila remains the team that has received more wrong ref decisions in the last two seasons (admitted by refs bosses)

Exceptional. Physically dominated his opponents, front foot ball retrieval, willing to move forward into space.
Most underrated element he brought last night though was getting in front of Wood when Forest went long, nicking almost everything of the Kiwi's first touch. Gave Ezri and Pau confidence that Wood wasn't going to pop everything onto an oncoming Forest midfielder.
Wonderful performance and key to everything the team did well.
UP THE VILLA!!

How about the Iceman last night ❄️

In praise of John McGinn. In a game of high stakes and high tension, McGinn’s joy in playing the sport should be cherished even more. In an industry which takes itself very seriously, McGinn brings some fun while never forgetting his responsibilities... #AVFC 1/2

Villa you were incredible, from the Bull Ring to the Holte End. In-person, unbelievably welcoming, a class bunch! Forest were beaten by a better team 👏
True football fans and genuine human beings see that! Social media often brings out the worst in society but walking around Birmingham in a Red shirt yesterday, I received nothing but love ❤️
Reds, ignore the meltdown! The key is winning with class, and losing with dignity! If some do it another way, let them 🤷🏻♂️

For the most part, the Forest fans are a class act 👏

@LionsAvfc @forestmad80 Best of luck with it. Now go and win the whole thing mate. It will be a special season for Villa if you do. Especially considering how you have been stifled by the prem rules the last couple of years. 👍

Business end of the season. Ollie Watkins doing the business in front of goal: eight in 12. Big goals in Europe – away at Lille, at Bologna, the first to set the tone against Forest last night. Big goals in the Premier League: against West Ham, Sunderland. Only five players have scored more goals than Watkins in Villa’s 151-year history (103 in 274). Bandaged up, banging them in, heading for Champions League qualification and, let’s hope, Europa League glory. And then Watkins absolutely deserves to go to the World Cup. #AVFC

Delighted for Unai Emery.
Took a lot of unnecessary flak for... *checks notes*... rotating in the Premier League, where they have a 6 point lead over 6th with 3 games to go...
Ahead of a European semi-final, in an effort to win Villa's first trophy in 30 years.
Turns out the 4-time Europa League winner knows what he's doing!

@forestmad80 Best of luck for the rest of the season. I cannot imagine your PL safety is under threat anymore. You shouldnt have been involved in that scrap in the first place.

@forestmad80 Unlucky with the injuries and playing the 2nd leg away from home is always tough. We have been there before and had heart break at semi final stage, so without being patronising, we know how you feel.
Forest are a great club and deserve to be on the european stage.

The morning after…
I didn’t even go to bed angry, I just had the thought of regrets spinning around my head. I think it’s important to remember that it was the perfect storm that we were never likely to sail through.
Key players out, schedule of playing Monday, the occasion along with playing a team that were always gonna be up for it and have the quality to hurt us.
If you lose, you learn and I do think we grow from this but a word of warning…
I think the Newcastle game could be much the same as these players are gonna be out on their feet. We will have freshness of Taiwo and Netz which is a positive.
Get our premier league status secured and then it’s a big summer ahead. It’s natural to be disappointed but I have the thirst for more European football soon. #NFFC
