@NikTek You raise affection with cats and dogs by petting/feeding them. After a while you befriend them and then summon them as companions.
I dunno about the cats but the dogs will loot enemies for you as a companion.

I'm assuming that building is just not a destructible one. That red flash that goes out from the player is the wanted system so I assume he's smashing some civilian's house that's part of a village.

Trees because you can get wood from them, gates/fences/guard towers or buildings because that's useful in combat.
