Here’s a word you don’t hear much these days… “REPENT.” It sounds harsh to modern ears. It makes people uncomfortable. Not just say sorry. But to make a complete U-turn — to change the direction of your life. Here’s where a lot of us get tripped up. We confuse remorse with repentance. And they are not the same thing. Remorse says “I feel bad about what I did.” Repentance says “I am changing what I do.” Judas felt remorse. Peter repented. One led to despair — the other led to restoration. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 7:10 — “Godly sorrow leads to repentance that brings salvation and leaves no regret — but worldly sorrow brings death.” In other words — it’s not enough to feel guilty. God wants to do something far deeper than make you feel bad. He wants to transform you from the inside out. What’s the difference between remorse and true repentance? Because the baby forms a connection with the mother he/she knows for 9 months of gestation. The baby knows the smells sounds heartbeat of the mother. To be taken from the mother on purpose is wrong. It’s fundamentally different than adoption which makes the best out of a tragic situation, finding parents for a child who needs them (child’s needs are central). Surrogacy creates the tragic situation on purpose for people who feel they deserve the child and paid for the child as if it’s a product (parents needs are central). The contracts often include plans to abort at will if there is a disability etc and the surrogate has to do it. It’s just all wrong. It’s child trafficking when you buy a baby.
