Keir Starmer has now given final approval for court records to be destroyed.
That is a direct hit on open justice. It wipes transparency, blocks scrutiny, and makes it harder to spot patterns, failures, and repeat offenders - including in grooming gang cases.
Whatever the intention, the effect is the same: less accountability for institutions, and more darkness for the public.
How is any government allowed to erase the record and still pretend it’s on the side of victims?
