@Miso_Sori @DataRepublican @wilksopinion @JohnRWoodJr You’re treating association as proof of intent. That’s the gap. The materials show overlap, not coordination or control. That doesn’t match the reality of how BA operates in meetings, workshops, or events I’ve been part of.

@LisaWells @DataRepublican @wilksopinion @JohnRWoodJr Stop fighting this strawman argument ur holding onto. Nobody here is saying the entire organization is an anti-Trump group, in fact we've been careful to say the exact opposite. But it is verifiable that the leadership was involved in meetings and is part of the infrastructure

🚨🧵 THREAD: Braver Angels says they're bipartisan and just bringing people together. Their own leadership coordinates with an anti-Trump political infrastructure network.🚨 This thread is not about BA's members. Many are sincere, and I thank @wilksopinion and @JohnRWoodJr for communicating with me. This is about the infrastructure steering them: IMIP. On August 18, 2025, Harry Boyte, a former Democratic Socialists of America board member, YES, that DSA announced Maury Giles' new role as Braver Angels CEO on video and their shift in strategy from depolarization to civic action: "David has put together a featured plenary at the National Conference on Citizenship... which will be a launch of a new stage for Braver Angels that some of us have been working on for a while." IMIP is the Inter-Movement Impact Project. It coordinates BA's strategic direction. Its own May 2025 document quotes David Brooks approvingly: "Short term: Stop Trump. Foil his efforts. Pile on the lawsuits." Braver Angels' members are bipartisan. Their leadership is adjacent to anti-Trump infrastructure. This thread has all the receipts. As always, patience as I pull together the thread.👇

@Miso_Sori @DataRepublican @wilksopinion @JohnRWoodJr Do I accept the idea that BA is some anti-Trump operation? No. I’ve been in plenty of meetings, workshops, conferences, and events, and that’s not what’s happening. It’s messy, imperfect, but it’s people trying to talk without it turning into a fight. That's it.

@Miso_Sori @DataRepublican @wilksopinion @JohnRWoodJr Look at the conversations here; name-calling, vitriol, distrust. That’s what we’re trying to change. The claims don’t match reality as I’ve experienced it. I get the skepticism, but it’s aimed at the wrong place. Married 30 yrs to a 3x Trump voter who supports this work...

@Miso_Sori @DataRepublican @wilksopinion @JohnRWoodJr Biased about what? I’ve got my views like everyone else. Every alliance has a red and blue co-chair, and for particpants, we’ve had the county GOP vice chair, NC Young Republicans chair, community leaders, a Dems chair, and school board members involved. Not one-sided by design.

Take the time to truly digest this thread and the associated implications that go along with it. You need to see the depth and breadth of how much planning has gone into the overthrow of America from within. Look at these people and ask yourself, "Do I really want them to control my future?" In the near future I will be taking a Special Forces look at IMIP from an insurgency/color revolution perspective. These are the type of organizations that need to confronted head on, and their members brought into the sunlight for all to see. This isn't politics as usual; this is an all-out assault on every American's ability to govern themselves.

@wilksopinion @KimballCall If it makes you feel any better, there’s a local group that has me on a weekly “libtard” rotation on X, creates new FB accounts just to feature me, and has demanded I resign from my party. I’m a blue and used to it 😄 Wild times. Can’t imagine how u feel. Chin up.

@KimballCall Thank you Kimball. I think one of the more interesting things about all of this is how many times in the past few days people have called me communist / marxist / leftist / libtard, etc. I've been a conservative & have been espousing my conservatism for more than a couple decades

In the book of Exodus, the Third Commandment: “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who takes his name in vain.” This is often misinterpreted as carelessly using God's name, but it is much more than that. Saying "God" in a careless way really has nothing to do with it. Perpetrating 'EVIL' in God's name is the accurate interpretation. In recent days, many, claiming to be Christians, have equated me to, or outright stated that I am a demon, wishing harm upon me & others that I love, stating the work I'm doing is "evil", while proclaiming I will face "God's wrath". The country I love is under attack, from forces both outside and within. Far too many don't understand the enemy so tie together partial truths, misinterpret what they believe to be 'receipts' & weave a web of conspiratorial ugliness and guilt by association in effort to malign people and organizations they truly know nothing about in real practice. The real enemy does not reside in one 'side' or the other. The enemy is the disease, and the disease is 'US vs THEM' tribalism, aka toxic polarization. It is the one problem that ensures all other problems don't get solved. When you see the 'other side' as the enemy, and can freely dehumanize them as monsters, demons, etc., it gives you pass to dismiss all they say and believe every horrible said about and characterization of them. It is a blinder that prevents us from seeing the truth. Yes, I said "us" because I have been there. I spent many years in this very same hole. Ultimately though, here is what I found: You will never see so clearly as when you remove the blinders of 'US vs THEM' tribalism. I am a man who's made more than my share of mistakes. I speak of my fallibility constantly, and publicly. Most importantly I have learned from my mistakes and use that newfound wisdom to help others do the same. I will face judgement one day, but never for committing evil in the name of the Lord. I cannot say as much for many of the commentors I've seen in recent days. I will pray for them. I am a sinner I am a Christian I am a Husband I am a Father I am a US Navy veteran I am a Patriot I am a @braverangels Abraham Lincoln, in the darkest hour this country has ever faced, stood before a divided nation and said, “With malice toward none, with charity for all.” This is how I chose to move forward. I hope you will join me. @JohnRWoodJr @doll_elizabeth @LisaWells

@wilksopinion I hear you. It’s been a tough few days watching good people and honest work get questioned. I’ve felt that pull toward “us vs. them” too and I know how quickly it takes you somewhere I don’t want to be. What I’ve found through BA is a different way: staying grounded...

@Shannon77683528 @Schwalm5132 That’s fair. Each alliance can feel different. I’m not the perfect moderator either. The structure is the same, but how it lands varies. I actually like spicy conversations, but without some guardrails they can go off the rails fast. It’s a tough balance.

I have been. One time. In 2021. I lasted 10 minutes. It’s was NOT supportive. There wasn’t shouting, of course. But it felt so performative. Dissent was neutralized with “niceness”, nothing meaningful could be spoken because it was “problematic language “ or topic. I couldn’t handle the gaslighting. This was the height of Woke and Covid so maybe things have calmed down and actual exchange of ideas can be spoken even if it hurts someone’s feelings.

@Shannon77683528 @Schwalm5132 That’s not how it works in practice. People share data, disagree, and challenge each other - it just doesn’t devolve into shouting matches. If you attended a meeting, you’d see it’s real conversation, not suppression or manipulation.

How do we negotiate reality? People like BA say “be nice” “be kind” it’s a trap to shut down the real conversations. One isn’t allowed to speak data point and statistics because they are “racist” or add any other pejorative. It’s a tactic. Nothing is real. There is never any accountability. Again, it’s all an illusion of meaningful dialogue. Its soft language is just a mask of manipulation and control. Speak the truth and listen to the web of obfuscation and gaslighting. I am very involved in my community. Ever since Covid. Nothing to do with Covid but Education. I am on many committees and I know how this works. It’s a game. I know their tactics and I play by their rules but catch them in their doublespeak and expose the truth along the way. It I I can do - speak their gaslighting to the public for posterity sake. It’s changes nothing because we are only allowed to see what they want us to see. I will keep fighting for reality and truth.

@MTweetingGreatA @DataRepublican @wilksopinion @JohnRWoodJr and it took her 6 mos to trust me enough to check out BA. Since then she's been a fierce advocate for which I'm grateful. Yes, all meetings are shared. We are on a pause from meetings but are working on Common Ground workshop coming in Sept. I'm happy to share anything I have.

I appreciate your defense of Braver Angels and that you are reaching out to me in the same spirit they trained you to be in. Here's my genuine thoughts on what Braver Angels does -- their day-to-day work, not the "color revolution" aspect I've been attacking. We don't need to hash out differences like a therapist. Many people have strong feelings on say, abortion or gun control, in both directions. We disagree and we move on. That's how things used to work in America. Just don't escalate to killing. To stop killing, we set the norm that it's completely unacceptable to do violence. That's all. In fact, the most blunt, lowest "Dignity Index" country I've been in is Hungary. You learn pretty quick to stop taking offense. And it's also the safest country I've been in. So-called "dialogue" requires us to suppress our own feelings in order to hash it out, and that is a form of identity self-sabotage. It's the exact same technique by which DEI succeeds -- only DEI requires you to set aside your own cognitive dissonance and morals to accept a line, whereas Braver Angels requires you to set your own gut reaction to be able to talk it out. Whether you intend it or not -- so-called depolarization is a tool used by professionals whose speciality is nonviolent regime change for a reason.
Elizabeth Doll@doll_elizabeth

It is good to collaborate on common ground where it can be found and to disagree accurately where it cannot. Depolarization (treating everyone as though they have God-given human dignity, because they do) is a good thing to promote and help others promote, even if they do things other than depolarization that frustrate you. IMIP does not in any way control Braver Angels, and frankly, the idea that it does is laughable. Braver Angels is extremely decentralized and mostly volunteers. IMIP doesn’t tell us how to improve the political culture; if anything, our members are often encouraging their members to consider different perspectives on their efforts, and I have personally pushed back on reform efforts that I believe undermine our republican form of government, even as I have encouraged efforts to improve people’s understandings of each other (depolarization). Jennica, you and I both want less political violence and for Americans to be able to use their right to free speech to attempt to influence their government, even when we strongly disagree with that person’s vision for government. Braver Angels actively works to create an environment where all Americans feel like they can compete in the marketplace of ideas— and thus don’t need to resort to violence to advance their goals— even though I have extremely strong personal beliefs about which ideas are the best ideas and ought to win. I believe in the pluralistic American republic the founders fought for and I want to preserve it, which also means preserving the rights of Americans to accurately promote their own, distinctly different view of a better America. Like our Network Partner FIRE, we work with everyone to see each other as friends with strong disagreements instead of as mortal enemies that must be avoided, mischaracterized, canceled, or killed.

@MTweetingGreatA @DataRepublican @wilksopinion @JohnRWoodJr Good question... I am a business owner and generally don't mix the 2 here on X. We do have a FB group and a small mailing list. We promote our local events by speaking to civic groups and political party groups. I'm a Dem precinct chair and the GOP chair routinely attends.
