According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, teens who start gambling early are four times more likely to develop a serious gambling problem. In Michigan, you must be 21 or older to gamble online or at Detroit casinos. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed Jim Ananich as the new Chair of the Michigan Gaming Control Board, effective April 25, 2025. Ananich, a Flint native and former Michigan Senate Minority Leader, brings decades of public service experience to the role.
