@lizzabees @DavidSchwartz70 which is so hard to do in a world where there is a lot of fear (some real, a lot of it imagined). Glaring example : Intergenerational trauma from the Holocaust would prevent you from seeing that not everyone who calls out Israel for its crimes automatically hates Jewish people.

Zohran Mamdani is being heckled right now at a press conference in Brooklyn, NY, by someone whose words I can't hear, but watch how he's dealing with it. Mamdani has the unique skill of knowing how to handle and walk into every room and engage with people, no matter how toxic they are or how their feelings are against him. And many times, make them feel heard. Elected officials, nonprofit and religious leaders, advocates, and activists on both sides of the political spectrum who met with him told me that. Don't take my word for it, President Trump is pretty public about it. That's why he's currently the mayor of New York City. If you don't like his politics or you're like me, who opposed his candidacy and is still troubled by some of his actions and statements, then don't take this post the wrong way; read into it how you should be better to communicate your message. Yes, putting ego aside for any public figure is not easy.

The Israeli military tortured an 18-month-old Palestinian child. They tortured him with cigarette burns to force his father to "confess". This is what Western impunity has done. They think they can get away with anything.
Al Jazeera English@AJEnglish

The family of a toddler in Gaza say Israeli soldiers tortured the child to force his father to confess during interrogation. Al Jazeera's @TareqAzzoum reports from Deir al Balah.

This is objectively extraordinary: x.com/clashreport/st… Jake Sullivan, one of the most senior former U.S. officials, says that the U.S. is in a war aimed solely at destroying Iran, one of humanity's oldest civilizations, against the U.S.'s own interests, at the behest of Israel, a 76-year-old state. Listen to the video: he says that Israel's objective in the war "is just break Iran -cause chaos," basically destroy the country, "because as far as they’re concerned, a broken Iran is less of a threat to Israel." Which he says is not in the US's interests "because a broken Iran means a broken global economy, as they continue to threaten the Straits of Hormuz. It means a potential refugee flow, like we saw after the war in Syria into Europe." He also says the Trump administration cannot answer what their own objective is in the war "because they don't know why they're there in the first place," implying that they're there mainly at the behest of Israel (otherwise they'd be able to articulate at least one reason). The curse of the "former official" strikes again... This is the same Jake Sullivan who, as National Security Advisor, oversaw the unconditional U.S. support for Israel's destruction of Gaza. Apparently breaking a people at the behest of Israel is only bad when a different administration does it...

Taline Shehab would have celebrated her 5th birthday last week. She was killed by an Israeli strike along with her father, a well-known drone cameraman who worked in Lebanese television. Her mother, Natalie, remains in a coma, unaware her husband and only child are gone. “She was our little princess,” said her uncle, Ali.

@bbcnickrobinson @paulmasonnews @ZackPolanski When the overwhelming body of experts describe it as genocide, and you still disagree, this is making a judgement. The BBC would not deny climate change. Nearly every major human rights and academic experts on genocide have determined Israel has carried out genocide.

Israel kidnapped and tortured a one-year-old child in front of his father for 10 hours, burning cigarettes and inserting nails into his legs, in an attempt to extract a false confession under duress. Israel kidnapped and tortured a baby!

1.) President Trump appears to be threatening a war crime; 2.) This will go over badly with other Gulf countries, for Iran will then attack their power plants and perhaps desalination; 3.) Iran won't reopen the Strait, because closure is what gives it leverage.

Iran has a right to exist. Also, they warned they would strike which I have been reliably informed makes them the most moral army in the world. Lastly, the children harmed were used as human shields. Did I miss anything?
Israel Foreign Ministry@IsraelMFA

The Iranian regime devastated Arad and Dimona by deliberately striking civilians with missiles. Over 100 people were injured, including children. A blatant war crime. Pure terrorism.

@CloseNatalie9 @RealCandaceO She is flipping the very arguments Israel uses to justify their crimes against humanity: Right to exist, most moral army in the world, children were used as human shields when IDF fired at kids. Someone from Isreal must have used - 'we were reliably informed' as well.

@shashj @owenjonesjourno Given the shock value of the claim, it was highly irresponsible. Seems @TheEconomist has gained a reputation You should be examining your biases and be willing to call out Israel for its horrifying acts, carried out on a massive scale and are still ongoing x.com/DalrympleWill/…
William Dalrymple@DalrympleWill

@TheEconomist has utterly destroyed its reputation with its deeply racist and profoundly bigoted coverage of the mass-murder of the people of Gaza. For six months we have seen issue after issue of scandalously one sided-coverage which has has made it complicit in the continued enslavement of the Palestinian people, the on-going seizure of their land, the systematic abuse of their human rights and the industrial slaughter of their innocent civilians in both Gaza and the West Bank. Shame on its senior editorial staff responsible for the travesty of inhumanity and bias. @zannymb

@owenjonesjourno Some of these reports have turned out to be untrue, and yes, I was wrong to be as confident in what was reported as first-hand evidence as I was, particularly given the fog of war in those initial post Oct 7th days. x.com/shashj/status/…

@owenjonesjourno My post was based on what was then reported as first-hand evidence, from the sources below. I explained that at some length at the time. cbsnews.com/news/israel-ba… economist.com/1843/2023/11/0…

Have you ever apologised for this, @shashj? Or explained why you falsely claimed there was “first-hand evidence”? This isn’t a minor mistake. The grotesque lie that Israeli babies were beheaded was used to justify slaughtering countless actual Palestinian babies.
