I’ve lived most of my life in Texas (born and raised). I had an opportunity to live in different places and countries. After living a short while in a deeply blue city (which I thoroughly enjoyed), I moved back to Texas. I had a blue state drivers license. At a local store where I had to show license to buy something, the person at the counter took my license and after seeing the blue state said (under their breath, but loud enough for me and a few people nearby to hear): “so you’re a communist” This was a few years ago. I thought to myself - were my neighbors always such jerks, and I just never knew it. Really sad. I proceeded to tell the person - loudly, not quietly, that I am a native Texan. I happened to live in other places.” That person apologized (sort of) and asked what it was like to live in a libtard city full of commies. I told that person that they should get out more because that blue city and state were a great place to live. From public transportation, beautiful places nearby, extremely cosmopolitan with all walks of life, and just a nice place - that person glared at me, but the person behind me in line said “thank you” to me. Honestly if life/job gave me the opportunity again, I’d move back there. I also love Texas, but that place was great too. Both have their pros and cons. Needless to say I have never been back to that store.
