Check out this neat preview of the ontogeny morph for the Saurian Tyrannosaurus, now complete with walk cycle and stage specific textures! I have been letting this loop on my desktop for the past day.

@Sketchy_raptor It is cool and good that we get some games produced at this level. I just worry that, IDK, GTA 6 comes out and makes insane returns and then the money people get the impression every game can be like that. The industry could benefit from more frequent, smaller risk games.

@Sketchy_raptor My growing issue with the pursuit of high fidelity graphics is the bloat it adds to teams and dev times. The average AAA title now is a 7 year endeavor and they cost an insane amount of money to develop. When they fail, they fail hard which lowers confidence in the industry.

@Tomozaurus People's minds would be blown if they only realized benchmark movies like Fellowship of the Ring only had 480 VFX shots but a film like Captain America: Civil War can have upwards of 3,000. Most modern VFX work is actually totally invisible. It's that good.

For the millionth time it has not "progressed backwards" it has only gotten better. The fact is the scale of effects shots expected has increased dramatically and the time the artists are given to work on them has been just as drastically reduced. So less time to do way more work

@TeeVEE2677 @Beast_SculptKit has a fully articulated Carnotaurus figure that I did a sculpt for in the works actually. Should give it a look! Also seeing parts of the cranial anatomy is expected and common in birds and other reptiles, seems plausible it would be in dinosaurs too.

@LittleBaardo Wouldn't it be cooler if it were completely articulated? Also, I keep seeing recent paleoart with dinosaur having visible fenestrae like in this mode, I thought they were supposed to be covered, what happened?

@WryCritic It's quite a neat trick, how they've deluded us culturally into thinking having a government that does the absolute minimum is not only acceptable, but it is also our greatest virtue.

@WryCritic Yeah this is like the classic American reactionary take. Their fixation on the 4 day work week is so typical. Nice things aren't supposed to happen for workers. Workers are supposed to slave for what they get, and what they get is what they deserve.

@WryCritic It's impossible for me to unlink from the current moment. I feel especially protective of anything educational produced by public broadcasting networks, especially when funding for these programs is being cut constantly and is under persistent scrutiny and political siege.

The needlessly critical attitude online to the Walking With Dinosaurs (before it was even released!) is appalling. With many people coming off as petulant, entitled and arrogant. It's really disappointing to see.

@jdooo_x3 You don't have to think it looks good, but if your creative gripes basically amount to "I wish this had more money and time to cook", IDK, I just don't think the creatives involved really had much control over that.

@jdooo_x3 I guess I just don't see why standards shouldn't be contingent on the level of production. This clearly didn't have a Prehistoric Planet type budget, why would I evaluate it on the same terms? For a public broadcasting production, this looks good.
