@Streettough iirc Bloomberg used to track Pret footfall as a measure of the city activity/economy, and they basically realised that between 2019-2022 that the entire menu in Pret doubled across the board.

A family lunch in Costa for £52 is bad though isn’t it? People really should be able to eat out and enjoy some luxuries. Many boomers seemingly want everything to be a grim, miserable slog for most, whilst they constantly swan off on their cruises

@rules_of_izzy @Streettough I’m thrilled for you and for them but those trends aren’t replicated nationally. Takeaways are the exception not the rule to the failing high street and restaurant economy.

Not true I live in a residential area with two independent family run Italians, three cafes, two fish and chip shops. Amongst countless other take aways. Independents will have SBRR applied as only one location for example. No shareholders demanding returns. All bake their own products and offer a far superior product and do well.

@Streettough Going to Costa for a meal out is not something you should be doing if your not financially comfortable. Get two large fish and chips for that with change comfortable
