Canada’s notoriously blind eyed financial regulator #FINTRAC dragged in to action by the @TorontoStar’s investigation in to unlawful crypto storefront ops on Toronto’s ‘Yonge Street’, 8 years on from the infamous #Khanani trans-national #MoneyLaundering op. #FINTRAC revoked dozens of crypto firm registrations after the @TorontoStar highlighted 50 businesses advertising crypto services, most of which appeared to be operating unlawfully - including 2 ops that used crypto wallets allegedly linked to Iran-backed terror groups(icij.org/investigations…).

1/ The Toronto Star re-visited ‘Yonge Street’, 8 years on from the #Khanani trans-national #MoneyLaundering network facilitating Iran-backed terror groups, and now found 50 #Crypto exchange storefronts - 70% were unlawful - reportedly some with transactions allegedly linked to Iran-backed terror groups - little law enforcement has been seen (thestar.com/news/investiga…).

@CitizenSuburbia Take the point. Also, Wassermann and CCA Stellar having an interesting time at the mo! And as for the fully integrated 'talent agencies' with PE funding... Everton had our own interaction with this model previously; Proactive/James Grant/JG Funding/Vibrac/RMF 🔁😉

Private equity/institutional capital - i.e. investment houses like ClearLake and Ares who have invested in football clubs, are also investing in Talent Agencies. Wasserman is currently up for sale - they are KDH's agents. CAA Stellar (JP1's agency) were owned by TPG Capital before being bought by Groupe Artemis. Football has almost fully converged with US Sport - and we can expect to see the Transfer Industry & Player Contract segment (industries within the football industry) expand. Not good news, ultimately for fans. In the US, the cost of attending a typical NFL game has rocketed well above inflation over the last 15 years.
