@hselftax Offered partnership at 25 but as smaller firm tax generalist. I wanted to specialize so took the longer road. I knew I wanted children & knew best chances were pre age 35. Mum of 3. I prioritized type of work & family over title. Linear then squiggly career to partner age 50

With careers now lasting for 40 years or more, why is it important to reach partner (or equivalent) during your 30s? Why not 40s or even 50s? IMO firms that look at ability, not age, and which have a more flexible approach to career progression, will do better in the future. 2/2

Interesting thread, and resonates personally (I was fortunate to make partner early in my 30s and then had two children). But disappointed that the proposed solution is to find a technological way for women to delay motherhood. Why not focus on the other end of the issue? 1/2

I’m really delighted to share that I am to be appointed King’s Counsel. To quote the very exciting letter I received yesterday: “I am pleased to be writing to you on behalf of the Lord Chancellor, The Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP, to let you know that The King has approved her recommendation that you should be appointed one of His Majesty’s Counsel.” Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way, including my wonderful colleagues, clerks, clients and family.
