What gets to me about the entire conversation around Platner is the lack of acknowledgement of the difference between someone like him and someone like Greg Stoker or Mike Prysner. There are people who enlisted in the military who GENUINELY OPPOSE the US Imperial project and they define it as such. They are honest about the state's criminality. They are genuinely committed to the anti-Imperial project. Someone like Smedley Butler was the same type of figure. Nothing out of this man's mouth indicates that's his position AT ALL. This guy was firing machine guns at civilians as a mercenary FFS. Putting a D by his name doesn't make him better... it just makes the already right wing democratic party shift further right. If the establishment of the Democratic party does not view him as a threat, then you can categorically guarantee he does not have the right position. It's really not that hard to decipher.
