@sarah_aslannnn My current trust is paying rates not a million miles off this and it does definitely incentivise to pick up shifts! I can’t believe how many people agree to work for £30-40/hr

Would love to get paid £80/hr and would be massively incentivised to pick up extra shifts. Can’t see any trust taking this on though, whilst people will continue to work for less (understandably difficult to turn down work/need money).

@todguest As requested, here's a thread on how consultants are paid in NZ. I'll break it down to allow comparisons with other healthcare systems. The preferred terminology is 'Senior Medical Officer' (SMO) or 'Specialist'.
