🚨 @NOAA is essential for weather forecasting, climate research, and public safety. AGU stands with the scientific community in urging Congress to protect and strengthen NOAA, not dismantle it. Our economy, environment, & safety depend on it. 📢 Speak up: lite.spr.ly/60021I7O

Don't underestimate the power of small wins. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how minor, to build momentum and confidence. This positive reinforcement can fuel your motivation and drive towards larger goals.

Confidence comes from being good, not great. Anyone can have the stars align & have a great day. But the confidence from that is fleeting. Confidence comes from consistency. Show up and make your normal pretty darn good. Focus on raising the floor, not just the ceiling.

Things that can coexist: Hard work and rest. Self-discipline and self-kindness. Ruggedness and flexibility. Belonging and solitude. Accepting yourself and getting better. Stability and change. Tragedy and optimism. Intensity and joy. Caring deeply and non-attachment.

One of the hardest but most important practices: realize that you are not the stuff inside your head. You are the awareness that decides what to do with the stuff inside your head. The ability to choose which thoughts to pursue and which to leave behind is key to everything.

New analysis of over 70,000 people finds focusing on extrinsic goals over intrinsic is associated with ill-being. Chasing external validation leads languishing. Pursuing mastery leads to thriving. Stop chasing achievements, fame, and status. Fall in love with the process.

How to play the long game: Don’t worry about being the best. Worry about being the best at getting better. Don’t aim to be consistently great. Aim to be great at being consistent. Ignore hacks, trends, and fads. Focus on nailing the basics over and over again. Sleep at night.
