What has happened at SWFC is a kind of reverse auction where, despite multiple people including the people on the in suggesting otherwise, have bid each other down because there was not that much concrete interest beyond having a look. Fact is, SWFC aren't worth the debt levels. Ending up with Mike Ashley and -15 is, if that's what it ends up, is far better than it could have been. The issue is, from every early on, it has been suggested that thresholds to meet 25p had been met a long time ago.

Saddest indictment of this current #sufc team was when Brooks was surrounded by 4 Swansea players all shoving him and no-one moved to help him. Last season, Peck and Robbo would've sprinted in (followed by a £200k fine). Not good when the players aren't sticking up for each other

@ThePinchNews I think he'd have gone short-term by adding experience. It feels to me the new approach is also short-term but in a different way i.e. it's (so far) based almost entirely on loans (in terms of serious first team squad additions). I'm still really confused by the new approach. 1/2

Although I expected them both to leave getting less than £20mill for both Vini and Anel feels horrendous (regardless of contract situation). Like I say tho, fully expected. My expectation however was that we’d have people in the building that might stop (primarily Hamer but also Cooper) looking round and thinking we’re miles off last year. @ArtyBianco We've definitely used exactly that approach before so it wouldn't be new. But agreed, that's how I hope it works - as long as those shortlists are backed up by scouting and the 'eye test'.

The way this is explained is exactly how I imagine the new #sufc recruitment will work… we’ve just partnered with a different analytical data team. (Which hopefully results in equally successful talent identification although slightly different so we’re not fishing in the same pond). We want e.g. a first team right back, 19-23 with these 4 main attributes as this is how we intend to play… click search, filter, filter… here you go, these are the best 4 we could find. Hopefully. 🤞🏼 👊🏼👍🏼

@ThePinchNews And if this is a player-trading play, how do we increase the value of these players if they aren't top end Championship first team quality? I don't see how we get them in the shop window

@ThePinchNews Great thread. The other problem I have with this is how it affects training. If these players are (a) training with the first team group and (b) not up to it, that will impact the quality of the sessions (which, in turn, can affect morale etc)
