Thursday features the chances for significant tornadoes across Iowa, Northern MO, W IL and SW WI… Very strong kinematics and an efficient thermodynamic profile will be in place… The Euro sounding here is underdoing instability by a good amount!

If you could go back in time and chase any tornado event ever what would it be? I may have location bias but I would probably go back and chase Joplin 2011 or Picher 2008…

Yeah so Thursday 👀

I've definitely got my eye on Thursday. Deep moisture, favorable thermodynamic profiles for thunderstorms, and seasonably strong wind shear may be in place. Models still vary on the progressive nature of surface features, i.e., things being further west or further east, and the exact shape is not exactly perfect at the 3-4 day range. But out of the days ahead this week, Thursday looks particularly interesting from a chasing standpoint. If I were living in the area, I would be watching Thursday closely. We may see severe weather possible from the Midwest down to the Gulf Coast. But for now, we wait until better cam/model guidance comes in over the next couple of days.

Thursday is a choose your fighter day. GFS has weak elongated low, widespread showers/isolated severe storms. Euro has tightly wound SFC low into W WI, with severe weather risk pending thermos. #wiwx #ilwx

I am watching Friday, April 3rd as a potential significant severe weather day, with all hazards in play including tornadoes. There is now growing agreement amongst models on a shortwave ejaculating into the Plains. However, there is still considerable uncertainty in the evolution of the trough, specifically its placement, and timing, leading to lower confidence at this time. Multiple additional severe weather days will likely occur both before and after the 3rd, but as of now, Friday appears to be the most favorable setup!
