I *cannot* believe this was real. These colors were real. I've never seen such a deep blue Aurora before. I've seen blue Aurora, but my goodness this was something else. What a beautiful night. Oh, and yes, the snow is purple from the Aurora light reflection, I kid you not. Central Colorado last night/early this morning. #cowx #aurora

Man, I just can't help but think, do we really have less EF-2+ tornadoes out west? The answer is no, but having so few cases for Rapid City/Denver/Fort Stockton feels so weird. Otherwise, you can clearly see how SRH increases with South/East extent but CAPE increases from North/West.

Anyway here's a map of all EF2+ tornado soundings for select locations across the U.S.

Talk about a quiet pattern across much of the US. Some stormy weather can be found in the PACNW and New England, but otherwise, a wonderful respite from the snow/severe storms we've seen over the past few weeks.

@StrmchsrHunterF So that’s what that thing looked like - got way too close and managed to only inhale dust for an hour with no visual 😆

This is one of the more wild radar loops out there. A nice, well defined center of low pressure off the southeastern Alaskan coastline. Radar estimating 45-55 mph wind gusts in this storm. Just a beauty!

Today is an incredibly special day. Three years ago, I was working 80-90 hours a week at a warehouse to pay off my old car, save for a new one, and still save my freelance cushion for chase season. Each of which I accomplished. Until this point, my routine was Chase Spring through Summer and work my ass off in the Fall and Winter. Later that year, for the first time I was self sustaining myself off of my freelance work. Fast forward two more years, I’ve had opportunities with NatGeo, Discovery Channel, AccuWeather, CNN, and now WeatherNation with an unbelievable surge of a following across all platforms and can afford to essentially live out of hotels. If I ever get down on myself, or feel like I’m in limbo. I just look back at this moment and realize how far I’ve come in such a short period of time. Can’t wait to see what the next three years have in store.

Ok, so we have a (*new!*) new potential record for largest IL hailstone found on 3/10/2026. Thank you to the Dorris family for letting us measure! I expect this to be the new IL record, but it will not be final until the SCEC meets to vote.

I can honestly say that in all of the snow storms I've chased, I've never seen drifts like the ones that are in Marquette, MI. Quite literally burying houses! #MIwx

Does public perception match reality? Clearly the tornado threat did not pan out but the damaging wind forecast ended verifying quite well, even underestimating in the NYC Metro. Although, it could be a bit of grade inflation due to population weight and weaker tree durability.
