I *cannot* believe this was real. These colors were real. I've never seen such a deep blue Aurora before. I've seen blue Aurora, but my goodness this was something else. What a beautiful night. Oh, and yes, the snow is purple from the Aurora light reflection, I kid you not. Central Colorado last night/early this morning. #cowx #aurora

I’ve been asked a few times this year about the chaser of the year for the 2027 @chaser_summit. I announced this in Denver, but we have retired the Chaser of the Year award and the Rookie of the year award do to the negativity it brought, and at times the threats! The Vortex awards will continue via Tim… and a special guest!

What does everyone consider the "most recognizable" tornado of all time to be? The tornado you can identify immediately from just one photo? For me its Briggs bc @a_dose_of_wx won't stop posting it.

A really easy way is to look back at some previous super El Nino years and see how precipitation fell and tornado reports. Some of those years include 1963-64, 1982-83, 1986-87, 1997-98, 2009-10, and 2015-16. Looking through the years, generally the southern plains experiences mostly above average precip with average precip in Dixie. Looking through tornado reports in the previous years, we generally saw tornado reports in the eastern Southern plains, ArkLaTex into Dixie/Southeast. So I would expect a similar trend with a active sub-tropical jet.

@TealNoodles It's likely because DSM has a slightly higher avg temp due to the city affecting temps.
